This or Skyrim

I enjoy first person or third person, and i know that skyrim can do both.
These both involve fighting+magic which i think ill enjoy since i was a huge fan of bioshock, and i would rather have a more open world experience.
These both seem to be awesome games, but which one would you advise i pick up, due to the fact that i only have enough money for one of them.

I consider TW2 to be far and above Skyrim in mostly every aspect. It's more linear, but also more directed. Skyrim's what you make of it. If I were you I'd get this.

I'd suggest tw2 over skyrim.
tw2 got a great story , skyrim got zero story but is a sandbox game.
tw2 has the the best fighting system of the two, much harder as well ( you actually feel challenged )
tw2 has the best loot system of the two
tw2 is closer to dark soul than it is to skyrim.

Developing the thread somewhat:
What would the gamers here suggest out of TW2. Dark Souls. Skyrimm?

I put probably around 80 hours into skyrim, and after about 6 hours now of the witcher, im ready to say its not even close. the Witcher is so much better than skyrim its not even worth mentioning them in the same breath.
they are pretty different as RPGs go though as others have mentioned. If the open experience thing is really important to you skyrim is worth a look, but so far the witcher is one of the best video games ive played in years, regardless of genre.

i like video games.
Well youre asking a bunch of biased people on this board. Almost everyone here will say Witcher 2, whereas 100% of people on the skyrim boards will tell you to get skyrim. Well, i'll just say that Witcher is an overall better game. Better combat, better story, better RPG elements, and makes you feel like youre in a living breathing world with a very deep fiction and an extremely good narrative. The story in this game is one of the best I've encountered in a very long time. Skyrim doesnt really have too much of a story, and in contrast too this is a MUCH more loose game. Skyrim players will tell you that you can shape the world how you want it to be, but really all you do is just beat all the guilds, do sidequests, and beat the main story(s). Youre not really shaping the world... because everyones endgame experience will be the same. In conclusion, if you want a better, more directed, most impactful and enjoyable experience, get Witcher. If you want something to keep you occupied for weeks on end due to extreme amounts of content, get skyrim. choice is yours.- Please wait. Quick reply will be available shortly.
- May 1, 2012 10:37 am GMTPeople here are not biased, they played both and preferred this one, as do I, in just few words I just beat the game moments ago and what an ending.. Now I just can't wait for the sequel, this game is 10/10

Gotcha. Yeah i see what you guys are saying. They both seem like games that i want to get sooner or later. Skyrim seems like a game with more content, and more weapons, like fallout. I really enjoyed fallout, and i want to be able to keep finding new weapons and spells, kind of like when your always using something different as you go in games like borderlands and fallout.

I have 129 hours on skyrim and 61 hours on W2. For me Skyrim is better for one reason. Sandbox. You open your map you point at a spot on the other side and you can go there. Even though witcher 2 has better story better combat better characters and pretty much everything (apart from magic which for me looks cooler on skyrim) better all these combined can't make it for the sandbox part of skyrim at least for me.

Skyrim, Dark Souls, The witcher 2- all way above average games. All three will make some happy and others not. I would never recommend a game to someone else. At this point in gaming, the landscape is so vast and varied that liking or not liking video games is becoming very personal. The truth is, a lot of them are very good, and it will be a matter of personal taste to whether you like them or not, as opposed to noting the flaws a game posseses.
the only real advice I can give you, which may not be very helpful depending on your financial situation, is to play them all. I've played them all. I might even play them again, and I wasnt a huge fan of any of them. They all had issues for me.
Agree. They both have their pluses and minuses but IMO TW2 is a much better structured game. The only place where I give Skyrim a big advantage is the sheer size and openness of its world. But to get the most out of TW2 you have to do your homework and learn the combat mechanics and how to utilize all of your attack options and alchemy.- Please wait. IMO Skyrim destroys the Witcher 2 in every way. I put 250 hours on Skyrim and I put about 10 on TW2. TW2 is so linear I can't get into it. I will play it for an hour and get bored and put Skyrim back in. I was excited for TW2 but after playing a masterpiece like Skyrim, and the awesome Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning I feel like TW2 is just average. I know I need TW2 more time but there is no way I would say it comes close to Skyrim no matter how many hours I am into TW2.

IMO Skyrim destroys the Witcher 2 in every way.
No. This is simply not true. TW2 destroys Skyrim in story, dialogues, characters, graphics and art design area. Anyway Skyrim is really better, if you love sandboxes and open world games. If you prefer story driven games, Skyrim is not a good choice for start. Still it's worth to play both games.

Out of TW2. Dark Souls. Skyrimm I would suggesr TW2.
I liked it better, it had original magic system, and it was open enough, much more that W2, but not so like Skyrim.
Skyrim also had quite short main campaign, TW2 was longer.
Dark Souls in a category all by itself, because its very distinctive and its not for everybody. Its brutal and punishing. But if you can stick with it, its also very revarding. It does lack on story and plot. But it makes up for it on combat.
If you can, get all of them, because all 3 of them are awesome games! Just different.
