Good story, weird characters, interesting puzzles. do you need more from an adventure game?

User Rating: 8.5 | The Whispered World PC
The Whispering World is an adventure game revolving around a sad life of a melancholic clown boy named Sadwick, that hates everything around him, until he encounters a stranger while looking for potential viewers for the circus that Sadwick belongs to. these are the first half an hour of the game that will lead Sadwick through an adventure throughout the world. (can't spoil the rest of the magic)

And here's some solid facts about the game:
1) if you still haven't noticed yet, the game is quite artistically made (long phrase for "stunning!") and the calm moody music is a blessing to every locale.
2) the story starts out a bit strange but turns out to be rather immersive. while exploring, you get a better feel of the world as Sadwick describes things in his sad view of the world.
3) the logic of puzzles in the game is quite normal and I thought the difficulty is just right (I can count the number of times I needed help from a walkthrough on one hand).
4) Dialgue is also good as the characters you encounter are sarcastic. certain puzzles are solved by dialogue and contrary to some reviewer, this game doesn't contains long dialogue than a lot of other adventure games I played (such as detective stories or even the holy grail of adventure games: The Longest Journey).

In short: the game is rather fluid. some puzzles are harder than the others and the one con I can find in this game is that sometime objects that you need to take or interact are molded to the background scene so well that it's easy to miss them but then again there are a lot of games like that and it's rather tolerable.

A final score of 8.5 is strictly due to bugs. some speech is rushed in certain places or the voice actor doesn't correlate with the written subtitles but nothing major at that.

A recommended alternative is: Machinarium

P.S. the ending is really good!
