I got this game thinking i'd be fun...BUT NOT THIS FUN!
New York 1979, A battle on the streets. The armies of the night number 60,000 strong, and tonight they're all after The Warriors-a street gang wrongly accused of killing a rival gang leader. The warriors must make their way from one end of the New York to their turf on the other side of the city. All that stands between The Warrios and their survival are 20 miles and thousands of street gang members. The army of gangs owns the streets and there's no turning back, they must fight for their lives and learn the meaning of loyalty as danger uncertainly emerg from the city night.
Now that you kow the story of the game you get a good idea of the feeling and the mood.
Gameplay: The gameplay is outstanding! The fighting mechanics in the game are great but once and awhile they feel a tad sluggish. The fighting is great, lots of blood and you can see cuts and bruises on the player your beating up or if your beaten up. Theres grapple moves, heavy and light attacks. You can also pick up a varity of weapons. You also have to tag turf with this spray paint mechanic thats REALLY good and is different then anything else. You can also loot from stores by picking a lock and then breaking and entering into the store and stealing everything in it. Cops may come after you but you can also beat them up too. You can also steal car radios right out of the car as well. When in the story you can play by yourself or get a friend and play co-op! The co-op is just like the story except with a friend and theres a split-screen camera merge that gets really annyoing but you can turn that off. Theres nothing that I can find wrong with the gameplay that doesn't make it fun.
Graphics: It's by rockstar so you'll get the GTA graphics except tweaked a little better. The enviorment feels dark and gloomy and you can just feel the street vibe from the gang members turf that you may step on. Its very gritty and slummy and theres homeless people and scum who walk the streets to give you that feeling.
Sound: The sound also helps set the gritty mood of the game. With oldie music and good voice acting you'll apperciate the sound in this game. You can hear the weapons snap when you hit people and the pain of your victims. Foot steps of you, your gang and your enemys and you can hear the spray paint when your tagging your turf or others.
Value: The value of this game is INCREDIBLE! Theres a ton of things you can unlock including another story mode called "Flash Back" story mode and a side scrolling story as well! You can also do 5 other rumble-type things were you just beat the ba-jesus out of people by yourself or with a friend.
This is easily the best game I have for xbox right now and it looks like it will be for a loooooong time.
