The Walking Dead: Episode 4 - Around Every Corner User Review
With more graphic themes and disposable character, this Walking Dead episode is most reminiscent of the comics.

- The Bottom Line:
- "Surprisingly good"
The Walking Dead left the players off in episode three waiting for something to happen that never happened. There was a train... Some people died... there was an explosion... The guy at the end... That was about all I found memorable about that episode (besides that they killed your buddy, which was tragic, but was very much "The Walking Dead"). Ep. 3 was without a doubt the ugly duckling of the series (not the good kind of ugly, but hey at least they made an Ep. 3). I was worried that the game series that intriguingly took off with Ep. 1 and then turned for "the worst" in Ep. 2 had actually turned for the worse and may never recover. I am happy to say that I was wrong to think so...
Episode 4 brings you, and whatever is left of your party, into Savannah, GA where things have gotten a little freaky. The city has been stripped clean by an organization of no-so-nice people with a pretty solid wall around their community, leaving your party to look for the boat that was assumed to exist. The story feels a bit condensed but is appropriate for the scale of the area you are in as well as the risks being taken.
The new characters added bring the much needed feel of logic to the story, that Ep. 3 trashed. All of the new members have depth and weren't just "passing by." One of the characters has a very interesting story that brings even more depth to the world of Savannah, GA.
The game-play brings back the familiar Q and A people skills that Lee seems to have. This time your decisions actually have different consequnces... No more illusion of freedom that the last games had. Without spoiling too much there is a bit more gun-play... You get to aim and shoot at stuff!! The suspense of the story and the actions allowed by the player come together in a very tight fashion and avoid situations where you are unnecessarily walking around to click on stuff.rnrnOverall I would say this was the most re-playable episode in the series and the best by gaming standards. The second is my favorite thus far but it is hard to replay since the plot is such a huge part of it.
SCORE: 8.5, Telltale went in the right direction with this episode and I hope they keep the suspense up.
