The Urbz is a rushed and clumsy attempt that leaves the famous Sims name in a bit of a rut.

User Rating: 6.3 | The Urbz: Sims in the City PS2
Maxis took a risky direction in this game. This direction was a unwise choice that burried the series in a dark hole. The Urbz is a unsettling game with glitches, rusty gameplay and poor effects woven in with little quality traits. If a gamer is not affected by these, he or she will further be bothered by the other terrible things included in this package. Curiously slow loading times, boring and terrible plot, and a large feel of regret will linger in the players. This game does not meet any expectations that would be expected out of a loyal Sims player. It will only strongly disapoint. Think hard before purchasing this cheap and worthless disc.

The Urbz is extremely fast paced game. Everything happens much too fast, and is much too difficult to follow. Many holes are left in with the gameplay, and this will most likely frustrate anyone. Aside from this, the gameplay in The Urbz is also extremely poor. The motions will tend to, more than often, dramatically slowdown due to the low quality and too-much-to-handle gameplay. It is even a challenge to just highlight an item and select it. It may possibly take a player several times to even come close to understanding this. To sum up the gameplaying quality in this game, I will say one word. SLOW

The graphical effects in the Urbz weren't as bad as the overall quality of the game itself, though no where near top notch. With very cartoon-like surroundings and characters, it takes away the realism that the game was supposedly trying to create. Most of the time, it was a displeasure to view any sort of polygonal structures, but it also may have smooth and well polished effects at times which may possibly forgive the cheaper effects.

Sound in this game were just average. Nothing special, nothing too terrible. It included annoying stereotypical music based on social statuses/standings that fitted decently. Character voices were similar to the other Sims games, so there was a touch of old-time classic feel at least in the sound. The Urbz is not a game that should be recommended to everyone. It is a cheap experience that will not be enjoyed--especially if the player is a fan of the series.
