Creative new spin on the Sims universe

User Rating: 9.5 | The Sims Medieval PC
I'll say from the start this isn't the Sims you grew up with.

Medieval take the Sims in a new direction, one that is less on absolute free will and more on tasks and objectives. The quirkiness that we all grew to love is still there, but its streamlined so you are worried less about survival and more about playing the story.

You start off making the monarch, all heroes are male or female, and you learn the ropes of the game. From there you are able to make another piece of your kingdom and then customize the hero associated with the building you chose. After a while you have many heroes all interacting with each other and the rest of the kingdom. It makes for an interesting dynamic. Choices matter in the game, poor decisions can kill your character or bring them fortune.

Gameplay is easy to learn and master just like the rest of the series. You are worried only about eating and sleeping and keeping your Sim "focused" which is the governing attribute to the success of your endeavors.

Overall its familiar, but different. In my opinion, not in a bad way. I enjoyed playing it and will continue to do so for many more hours. If you are a fan of the series, its worth a look and if you aren't give it a try its not what you would expect.
