I turned my copy in the day after I bought it. This review was dead right about this game. They did forget to mention that it has a glitch that causes it to freeze when you're using the fast forward feature. I wouldn't recommend this to any Sims fan. If you're looking for a good Sims game, Get the one for the PS3. There's LOADS more stuff you can do, and there's not nearly as many bugs.

@Kevin-V Don't listen to the 10 years old haters, we all appreciate your hard work and your right-to-the-point reviews.

@Kevin-V There is no mention here about how hard you've worked or the problems concerning how problematic the video capture was. Nor any of it for being a shorter review, and I believe that squall-guy knew of either problems. Normally your video reviews go alot deeper into the core of the gameplay and etc. Don't get me wrong, you are my favorite reviewer in this world, but it was rather short, though very appreciated and gave me a whole lot of info towards me getting the game or not. I would rather have a short review of this game, rather than waiting for a longer one, but comparing it to your other reviews, without knowing the background for the reasons, it would suprise me as well for being as short. Answering to this one comment from squall, the way that you did, and im not defending his approach or his chosen way to formulate his opinion, was rather unnecessary and for me, unexpected. I hope you keep doing a great job, and I think this is a good review, but dont answer flamers and haters this way. It seems unprofessional. And I do repeat, you are my favorite reviewer. Just dont be taunted by these comments, when it is (most likely) unclear to them that these reviews serve a different purpose and sometimes are forced to have a lower quality than your reviews normally get. Sorry for any abuse of the english language, im norwegian. :>

@Kevin-V: Do not sweat the naysayers, sir; you did good. It's a concise review, telling you why the game doesn't work per se and offers enough details to get the general view of it. It's sad though, even the GBA versions were better. Yes, they slimmed those as well, but at least they worked within restrictions to create a different appealing game.

I like your reviews Kevin, they're informative without going into a large amount of details plus they're straight to the point, when will the trend of good hardware but poor launch titles (for the most part) end? I bought street fighter IV 3d and Rayman 3d and I have to say raymans great and street fighter's fun and the 3d's good for both but it's the gameplay variations in both that make them good games even if their formula's within their own genre's hasn't changed but hey if it isn't broken why fix it. Great review

@Kevin-V Yeah I guess after reading my post I was pretty harsh. Sorry for that. I was a little tanked last night when I wrote it, oh well. I'm just kinda mad that I can't seem to find any good info about this game. Surely there has to be more to it than just what is in these reviews. I trust you guys when I make my buying decisions and I just hoped it would be a bit more detailed.

thanks for your honest review, Kevin, after hearing this, i will have to go for the ds version, i wonder what caused the the services like repair ppl, and maids and the meters for your needs to be removed? very weird...

To me, looks like Sims 1, with only 1 sim and better graphics.

While it is short, at least it describes what is good and bad about the game.

@squall_83 -- I didn't "half-ass" my job. Our goal was to do a video review for every 3DS title we could do one for during the launch window, exceptions made for games reviewed outside of the main office.

One problem is that like other outlets, Nintendo did not provide to us the means of capturing direct footage. We got lucky with Monkey Ball; the publisher had stopped by the office for Today On the Spot with development hardware that allowed direct feed. In most cases, we had to create an unusual setup to allow us to capture footage. That took time.

The other concern, of course, is that we reviewed a large number of games in a short period of time. In a two-week stretch, we reviewed 32 games, and I am not counting multiplatform releases of the same game. 17 received video reviews--a very large number for a very, very small number of producers and editors. (As in, mostly two guys.) Our goal was to provide video for the majority, which meant bite-sized video reviews rather than long-form ones.

In any case, our video reviews are, 100% of the time, an adjunct to our written reviews, not a replacement. If you want details, the written review is right there, easily accessible. The video review is an overview of the game's quality, and is by its very nature a more top-level look. But after two weeks of hardworking days and sleepless night for me and my coworkers, I will not allow anyone to call our creative output "half assed."

Wow... This was probably one of the shortest and most forced reviews I think I've ever seen. The game may not be that great but damn... Can't you at least spend a bit more time to go into the details? That's your job isn't it? Don't you get paid to do this? I don't half ass at my job....

@Gelugon_baat: This goes for all game companies. It's a business, which is something gamers often forget. Sadly, this leads to games that should never have been made or ones that are rushed to store shelves without receiving the polish and features they need to be considered fun. In the case of the 3DS, many companies are not living up to promises. Instead they are simply porting games instead of making truly innovative ones. So far, the 3DS has nothing truly special to call it's own, which is sad considering it is a promising piece of hardware. Hopefully we will see more promising games in the near future.

@Gelugon_baat Not at all...in fact I think this game shouldn't even exsit. The Sims 3 is best played on the PC, all these other systems are just ways of making more money. :x In fact I agree, no maids, no repairmen, no meters for hunger, sleep, and other essential attitudes is completely ridiculous! :o In short, the Sims 4 better be PC only and not go to the dark side of attempting to put the game on another platform.
