There is a fix, not exactly a fix because the problem will still occur, but less frequently than before. Whereas before I did what I am about to tell ytou, we could get maybe 5 minutes of play time before it started i8t's crap, and after I fixed it, we were able to get good hours at a time.
1. The problem is based pn system lag. Your harxc drive has too much on it, and you have ba d fragmentation. Clean up unwanted programs, and files, and defrag your system. I suppose you know how to do that.
2. save and save often while playi9ng. This will ensure that if you go black, you'll not loose quite as much har d work. Sims is a great game but to accomplish anything is often much work.
3. If your screen goes black, here is someting I do that will get my screen back alot of times.
A. Hit pause, presuming it's still the P key.
b. hit your windows key and it will take you out to the winows screneen. The start menuy will open as well so close that.
c. Wait a second or so, and then click back on the game which is sitting on the taskbar.. You may have to try this more than once but I often can get my game sceeen back this way.
This of course, was a solution I personally discovered for Sims 2 but it sounds just like that same problem so perhaps the same solutioin will help.
