When I first played the original The Sims I was instantly hooked. Controlling people, I mean whats not to love. When they announced The Sims 2 I followed the game from announcement to release day. I even upgraded my PC just to experience this game. As soon as I got the game home I installed it, and entered into the world of The Sims 2. I didn't come back to the real world for about 16 hours. This game truly brought The Sims franchise into the world of 3D gaming. The graphics were great. The game play though similar to The Sims 1 was completely next level. All the little added tweaks really made the game seem realistic. One of my favorite additions had to be the wants and fears system. Also the aspiration system. Several of these additions made the Sims themselves much smarter. No longer do Sims just shrug idiotically they are much more able to navigate their homes. The implementation of aging, and genetics were also a very welcome change. No longer do you get bland prototype Sims, you can mix and match your Sims to get some of the coolest looking Sims you'll ever see. The game is not without it's draw backs though. First off they were supposed to include weather in the base game, but decided to add it later in an expansion pack. Also the base game gives your Sims pretty much nothing to do outside of their own homes. All off the fun things to do were added in later expansions. With all that said The Sims 2 is definitely a game you should experience for yourself at least once. Hate it or Love it, you have to admit The Sims 2 and the Sims franchise have changed gaming as a whole forever.
