Why can't i build a house? (noob)

I'm in tutorial mode for building houses, so money's no object. However, I am unable to make a freakin wall. Shift click, normal clicking, and then dragging. Nothing works! Can anyone help?

Are you holding the mouse down? You're supposed to hold it to make long walls. Also I don't think shift is used for walls.

Jeni was right. I was trying to use a daemon tools drive, because I have only one Dvd drive that operating (sux donut). So I guess I have to stop being lazy and just use the damn disk. So long Tomb Raider.....

Or you could just find a proper, working NoCD crack. But, you're on your own with finding that. Sorry.
