Picked On Way Too Much.

User Rating: 7.5 | The Simpsons Skateboarding PS2
I just got this game today and played a fair bit of it, and I found it to be rather good. I was a little worried about buying it since I have heard a ton of bad reviews for this game, and I feel there wrong. In short, is this a great game? Meh not really, but is it worth getting? Yeah I feel it is, but don't spend more then $20 to $30 on it.

Graphics: Seeing how this game came out in November 2002, I will only compare it to other games of that time. Games like the first Socom on PS2, Hitman 2 on Xbox, and the remake of Resident Evil on Gamecube came out around this time in mid/late 2002. Compared to the games listed Simpsons Skateboarding is not the best in graphics, however the graphics are not so bad that the game is hard to play. The overall thing about the graphics is they are not that bad nor that good, just right for it's day.

Sound: Like I said before I just got this game so I clearly have not heard the music, too much but what I have heard is okay, I don't ask too much out of the music though as long as it doesn't bug me to the point it's hard to play, which is not the case here, I don't mind it otherwise. Like there are some great soundtracks but I don't hold it against a game if the music is not the best. The music is a good feel of moderate alterative rock with a little tint of a "phony skater rock" feel to it. Or that's how I explain it, but it's really just alterative rock when it comes down to it. Nothing too bad but again nothing great.

Value: Once more like I said I just got the game but I feel it has a fair bit of value to it, is it a game you may forget about and then one day find and go "Hey I remeber this game", when it comes down to it, yes. But I feel it has a fair bit value to it you could play this game when you just want a skateboarding game when your board or whatever, it's nothing great but nothing too bad.

Originality: I feel that there is not too much you can do to set yourself apart when it comes to a game about skateboarding. There is only so much you can do really, in Simpsons Skateboarding they have a fairly orginal set-up. They take parts from Crazy Taxi, and the Tony Hawk Pro Skater games. It takes the option of what objective you want to do like in the Tony Hawk games the only difference is no time limit, but only in objectives so you can practice or free skate whenever you like. Also like in the Tony Hawk games it has objectives, not has many as objectives as in Tony Hawk, but that's a high comparison since Tony Hawk makes some the best games in the skateboarding feild. Also the game takes form Crazy Taxi, that little arrow over heard telling you where to go on mission, which I think is cool.

Gameplay: The thing about the gameplay is it a little rough around the edges and by that I mean it's a little hard to move, but you can figure it out fairly quickly, but basicly how the game works is there are 10 levels and 9 people to skate with and in every level you have three different modes, the first is, "Skillz School" where you are thought moves and what not, real basic and you make money doing this, which I'll get back to. The second mode is, "Skatefest" which is more or less story mode, you unlock things and do objectives and what not and once more you can get money in this. The third mode is, "Timed Trick Contest" where there are three scores and there is a low, mid, and high score and you have to beat these scores to unlock skaters. Things to remember though is you get money which you use to upgrade stats and do other things with it. Now I found the game to be a little bit hard, but crazy hard but a little bit hard. Lastly the game does have a multiplayer in which you have two things you can do, one being a timed run and who scores better wins, real basic. The other game is called, "Horse" in which you (and I havent tryied this yet but I read the subcaption) match each others moves. Overall this is a game I wouldn't put down at all but don't go out of your way to get it, spend no more then $20 or $30 at very most on it.
