one of the best arcade beat em' up games ever
the music is classic Simpsons, right from the start to the end, you'll recognise the sounds from the players and the music playing in the background. even with each punch and kick made, you can tell immediately that alot of effort has been put in to make this game truly Simpsons.
the character modules look great too. not just the 4 main characters mind you, even the baddies have some unique weapons and outfits that pay homage to the tv show in a miraculous way.
as for the gameplay, its really top notch. sure, there aint many fancy moves, just a simple attack, jump button, and the combination of both for a special attack. but for an arcade beat em' up, thats all there is to it. its how they implement it that counts. and with the Simpsons, you cant get any better than that. the weapons that each character has, their relating special moves, it all blends perfectly into how the character is and should be. and thats saying alot, not many games can portray a character's character just by its weapons and skill set alone, but in the Simpsons, they do it well.
as for the level design, its kind of weak so to speak compared to the standard of games these days. but for a game made back then, you cant give it too much flak. it is extremely creative. the wackiness and the humour is there and that is really all you need in this game.
overall, its a really impressive and well thought out game. you really wont be able to find it anywhere anymore, but if you do, change some quarters and give it a go, it'll bring back the nostalgia to you. and i promise you wont regret it.
