There are no words, which could describe my love for this series of pure fear. Well, maybe there is one - Haunted love?
As you know (I’m sure you know), here we have a collection of three most loved Survival Horror titles, packed in one case. I saw it; I bought it, because I loved first game so much, I liked those sad, depressive, dark stories and personalities in the game. And of course: the soundtrack. The industrial and ambient sounds here is the music, which makes your hair on your back go crazy. WOW – 11 points out of ten for the soundtrack alone – in every game!
I bought this trio and I fell in love in all of sequels. Silent Hill 2 was my favorite of the series for some time – because of that incredibly sad story of love, also because of the disturbing moments – here the creepy fears was a lot more, than in the original game, and I just loved it. I still do love the effect of fear and creepy atmosphere, combined with James’s inner fears and his subconsciousness, which came alive in the town called Silent Hill. Perfect concept, executed even better.
Then I moved to Silent Hill 3. In the beginning I didn’t liked the protagonist being a girl, because she was rich in voice, when hitting and beating the manifestations of her subconsciousness, as well the materialized and sick mind of Claudia. But I didn’t gave up, and I continued to immerse myself into the philosophy behind the game and story, I continued to search for answers for those countless questions. But mostly I liked that this game is direct sequel of the original game, and I liked so much to see the places from the first game.
Then was the turn for Silent Hill 4: The Room.
Hell yeah! This sequel, although not meant to be the sequel, scared me most. It managed to scare all the feces and demons out of me. And all time long, while I played this game, I was little feared of the dark! Total scare-fest lies behind that interesting gameplay and story of the game. Well done!
And only then I bought my copy of original game, only now I managed to complete this gruesome game, rich of atmosphere and fears.
And I think, that the first game is my favorite of the series for now, because somehow SH1 manages to haunt me for all these years – even today.

I have spoken, and here is the verdict:
A must have for the craziest fans of horror! A must have for silent hill fan, if you do not own already some of the games in this collection.
A must have for those, who appreciate more intelligent, more deep, deepest fears, which Silent Hill has to offer.
The good – 3 best pieces from Survival Horror genre, put in one case!
The Bad – no expanded version of Silent Hill 2; no SH1 – but it is OK, because this is the collection of PS2 games, although the first game could fit there just perfectly!
P.S.
I really don’t know why Silent Hill often is put in one shelf with Resident Evil and compared 1:1.
In RE you have 0% fears, and a little bit of atmosphere. Those only few “Boo” type moments from the cheapest end… Nothing memorable, although RE series is great in its own way – I love zombies too, but as I said – no real scary moments in Resident Evil series.
But Silent Hill offers so much more for you to fill your panties! From the first, till the 4th game. And I can’t wait to put my hands on Silent Hill: Origins, and the upcoming Silent Hill 5. Well done, Konami! You’re the man!
