We went live with the Sony press conference from GDC 2010!
Why are they trying to reinvent the wheel? These fancy toys are good for some odd games... But for FPS keyboard and mouse rule and for everything else theres classic playstation controller.
@naraku2099 Call it what you want really, eyetoy, cam game, super cam game motion plus, ext. I can strongly say for myself that i am no longer interested in what both PS3 and Wii have to offer when it comes to its motion controls. Don't forget i am only speaking for myself. That's cool that you like it i guess. Just not for me. I will wait for the next big idea and give that a go.
@HonorOfGod: I have to disagree. Motion controls existed to a lesser extent last generation with PS2's EyeToy, then PSEye came out this generation as an improvement to that. Now PlayStation Move is another advancement with a combination. Wii's controller is controlled with infrared, and PS Move's is with the PSEye/Bluetooth. Completely different. And I have played Wii. The controller is completely different, and so are the games you can play with it.
I'm not as worried about price as I worry about functionality and game play. I don't care how much it cost, as long as I get enough use out of the Move to justify the buy. As it is, most games ON ANY PLATFORM are not worth buying. Lets hope the move can add much need replay-ability to games again. I'm so tired of buying a game and trading it in within a few days. And don't tell me to rent, renting doesn't give the developer money, it gives a middleman money, and middle men are ruining gaming by taking money from the publishers and hardware companies, and that in turn makes the average price of games rise.
@naraku2099 trust me..its a Wii with better graphics. Go spend some time with Motion plus and the type of games the wii has..sides MH and ZTP they are all gim machines as i like to call them. The both move's and wii's style are cool..but they are not fit for any gameplay style unless its sword fights ( my fave btw ) or to fling things and stuff..its really not that great yet. But i am glad we are at least taking a step into the future. Its to early for Move or Wii to master the motion controls just like it took another gen for consoles to master online play. Maybe next gen we will see true motion.
@HonorOfGod: PlayStation Move is nothing like the Wii controller. It has motion sensors attached to it and the movement is read by the PSEye. It's much more precise than the Wii controller. Get a clue before you make statements like that.
I'm really impressed! There are endless and awesome possibilities with Playstation Move... far beyond the Wii controller! Both thumbs up! ^_^
"Under a hundred dollars" Probubly means $99, and it looks like alot of games require two controlllers. I'm trying to like this, but I think this will take away from regular games. I don't care how "precise" this is, it's not as precise as a regular controller. Sony needs to focus on the future, not the present.
If the starter pack is set at $60 I'm sold. I know you can give me a bargain Sony. You did it with Socom Confrontation (really nice headset it came with, absolutely love talking with it on the charge stand). Plus how much are the Wands individually? Regular controls cost enough as it is.
I think i speak for everyone that if you don't want to wave your arms like a spastic then you don't have to. i also would say that it dosn't look like all games you have to be standing and moving like a spastic. I am a fps guy, so if the fps's play like it did with the guy sitting down, and all i am moving extra is my wrist, then i like change. I wouldn't mind using it over a controller any day. It will be the next closest thing to a mouse.
damn, all the people on this conference are overweight and badly dressed xD they have no lives
Hey look its the Wii by SONY! ...>.> 5 years later..Hey look is NintendoVR by SONY...>.>
Wasnt really interested in motion games, this makes it better little big planet is the best looking feature
You know the PS3 move is most likely going to work bet with rail shooters, my fav, playstation eye games from the ps2 and 3d person shooters. and the best way to show this of is to bring out DEAD SPACE 2 with the motha freaking MOVE dear god that would be freaking scary. you better make it before the release date Sony, and you better make it compatible EA. if they want to launch MOVE successfully they better bring it out together with Dead Space 2
It is going to be SICK can't wait to get the bundle that doesn't come with the ps3
I must just be getting old, I just dont see the appeal. I mean sure its a cut little niche but to me it still doesnt feel as good as a traditional controlled game. I mean sure it is a good gimmick but hopefully they dont go all the way with this stuff like Nintendo has. The Wii is a good example, I played mine for a few weeks and it was cute but after the wow factor wore off it has been doing nothing but collecting dust. I dont wanna have to flail my arms around like a spastic window licker on pixy stix in order to play a game, I just want a traditional controller, nothing more.
Wow sony is getting desperate, they should just give up making game systems. The Wii and the 360 pwned they're asses in sales haha. God of War wow the only game you have now sony. Oh wait i guess you also have uncharted woohoo!!!
I must admit I was sceptical at first, but this looks fantastic. It's going to help marketing a lot. By opening new horizons both for casual gamers and hardcore gamers. Nice going Sony. You're finally going to receive the respect and support you deserve.
so who started it all... nintendo or sony. they been doing this for years.. just to out do the other one. look what happen to sega... they couldn't keep up. same thing going to happen to X-box( both) look up history of game systems and you find all the info you want
I don't hate the Move, it's good compettion but I just don't think it will sell that well.
GameSpot streamed the conferences live? I had no idea. Usually they advertise on their website that they are going to stream live conferences. . .
@Everyone saying Sony "copied" nintendo... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCEyHiLxuC8&feature=player_embedded
all you guys saying that they copied wii beacuse they didn't , they've been working on this since the ps2 came came out, and natal copied the eye toy. the eye toy did the same thing natal did ,the playstation eye does that too, and the eye toy came out 2003,and the play station eye came out in 2007 and it does the same thing natal does
I love the response time on the controller I don't play my Wii anymore because of the games this looks like a reboot to my kind of games. It does like gimmicky but Sony can pick up the hardcore gamers Nintendo is missing out on. Only Thing I'm concerned about is how many controller will 1 person need to fully play these games that can drive cost WAY up but look at the Wii you need a Nunchuck and Wii Mote costing 60 dollars for both so we will see how this pans out also another thing the Wii has Miyamoto and no one stops Miyamoto NO ONE HAHAHA (j/k he's awesome though)
I'm no fanboy of any of the systems, but really this just looks like a copy of the Wiimote with some extra features. Really who is going to pretty much get rid of a system they already have games for just to buy a new one they truly have none for.I'm sorry to Sony but they should try to be more original instead of be copy cats and trying to take ideas of others. Sure it may look good but really do we truly know? Sure Wii is at times unresponsive but this is just Wii2 on the PS3 really. So why worry about it. People may think the wii is gonna die because of this and Natal but I'm sorry to say Nintendo is not going to die so easily. They've been in this buisness for a long time and they're here to stay whether some like it or not. Plus I think kids of the next generation should be able to see Mario. Not just Master Chief and SackBoy.
the real selling poin is the super starter pack bundle for under $100. that has me sold. game, controller, and eyetoy. thats a great deal. also, they have single controller packs too!! if those are under $40 or $35 i am totally sold. day one buy for me. a few of the launch games look really fun and the potential that is there is incredible. can't wait to see what happens after this thing is released!
Looks just as gimmicky and lame as Project Natal and the Wii. At least Natal doesn't need 2 controllers per person.
I've only been checking out the new motion stuff lately. I have all the different systems and fully support each one, but in this category I'm gonna have to lean towards the PS3. The Wii is on the right track with bringing out the motion sensor controls but after playing some games and getting frustrated because the controller isn't very accurate, my Wii doesn't get much use these days anymore. So this Move looks like it will be pretty cool. A 100% accurate motion sensor; able to use it with the good next gen games that are coming out but also making it compatible with already released games. I don't see anything to complain about with it. Then there's the Natal, which is some good technology but it's not fully accurate and it looks like it will end up causing more complications then anything. I also enjoy sitting and being comfy while I play a game, not jumping around and flapping my arms and stuff.
