Very easy and repetitive gameplay entirely ruins this nice and detailed little package called Settlers RoaE
Game has a ''hero'' units called Knights. These ''Knights'' range from a merchant, rogue, warrior, priest, druid and Arabic ''wise guy'', you know, every other game has that sort of characters...
So, when you promote your Knight to a higher title, you acquire new buildings, which has the same purpose as the ones you built before but they require new materials to function + you get a 1-2 new ones in order to satisfy your settlers needs.
Settlers needs - your settlers have 4 basic needs, need for Food, Clothing, Hygiene and Entertainment. If you don't provide any of this needs, they will go on strike (which isn't hard to provide, as game is overly simplified).
Good:
- nice graphics, environment and a whole lot of high quality details (that's the reason I classified it as ''all flashy, no substance'')
- seasons (in summer, everything is OK, but in winter, water is frozen so you can't fish, grain won't grow, bees won't give honey...)
- nice animations and city building style
Bad:
- lack of buildings (I mean, this is after all, city building game so I expected a whole bunch of buildings to satisfy whole bunch of Settlers needs, while in reality you get 15-20 building which, more and less, all serve the same purpose), that's kinda weird...
- Horrible voice acting (oh yea, there is no life in those people, they are all like ''Oh, what a nice day'', ''Too bad I'm broken'' all acted quite bad and amateurish)
- very, I mean VERY, poor AI - they can't do anything, literally...they are only waiting for you to destroy them, once you build your walls, you are immortal.
- only 4 needs to satisfy, which is very easy to achieve
- highly repetitive gameplay, every mission is the same
-small maps, kinds - 2v2
In conclusion, this game is very nice ''judging by the looks'', but it has a terrible repetitive gameplay. I figured this out only when my eye stopped noticing all those flashy details - I then thought to myself: ''Hey! This game is stupid!''
Something like that...
Personally, it's a rip-off, If I bought this game I would be very mad! Luckily I got it from friend.
The game will try to appease you with all those details and shiny weather and environment, but in the core, it's sh!t to be honest.
I highly recommend, if YOU are not a FAN of The Settlers world, STAY AWAY FROM THIS GAME!!!!
If you are a fan of the series, give it a try, you MIGHT like it...
