High-fantasy or sci-fi are usually the only choices we have about RPGs. When it comes to MMOs, the options were none before the releasing of TSW.
I really love this game. Graphics are gorgeous, story is intense and the community is nice.
There are plenty of reviews out there. I won't write a very extensive wall of text then. Just prefer to say is that: liking it or not, TSW has been so far a necessity. No one released a game with such setting and scale before. I usually get burned out in high-fantasy games very quickly - I guess I already had too much for a lifetime. Sci-fi I can still tolerate, but I really wanted something in our modern times - and luckily I found it. That's it. If you prefer elven and dwarves, I'm afraid TSW is not your game. Simple like that.
Pros:
- Great story
- Ability wheel system (tons of abilities, free and personal builds)
- Incredibly detailed dungeons
- Fast pace and non-stuck combat (constant movement is the key)
- Stunning graphics (specially when everything set to max/turned on)
- Mature public (e.g. no trolls)
- So far the ONLY option among MMOs for modern days setting.
Cons:
- Needs a high-end computer
- Harder to learn than it looks like
- PvP is not good (but I play MOBA, thus any other pvp usually sucks)
- Not hyped (I think it doesn't matter, the only problem is that then more shallow criticism will arise than what is just fair)
