An adventure game with potential and charm that marked the beginning of its series that everyone remembers.

The game Monkey Island wasn't exactly the first game designed by Lucasarts that involved adventure, talking to people, and picking up objects while you progress onward when it was released in 1990, but the plots and the settings in the pirating world was the first of its kind. The graphics, the sound effects, and the music effects would be considered primitive compared to today's perspective, but it is also a memorable classic game with that certain charm no other game old or modern has.

As a player begins Guybrush Threepwood's journey to becoming a pirate in Melee Island, there are some important tips to remember if you're new to this game and to many other Lucasarts adventure-games like Full Throttle and Sam & Max. The most relevant tip to know about would be to pick up as many objects as Guybrush can get his hands on and experiment with each item until Guybrush finds a use for them. Normally, you can only use an item once in the whole game and after that it's considered useless and is wasting space in Guybrush's pockets (how big are his pockets anyway?). Talking to people is another important tip to remember although it is not required to do so if you know very well what to do, what they're talking about, and if their information was useful or not to you to begin with. You will meet new people or old people with new advice as you progress later in the game, but that's the beauty of it.

In conclusion, Monkey Island is a game to try out and to enjoy playing for hours on end. If there's a certain point in the game where you get stuck and can't go any further, experimentation is the key to help you out unless if you want to look at a walkthrough to get out of the obstacle the easy way. Just remember to be patient and have fun.
