If you mixed Grand Theft Auto and Assassin's Creed, you would get The Saboteur, it has the open world driving and shooting gameplay from Grand Theft Auto and missions that can be approached in different ways and climbing abilities from Assassin's Creed. In The Saboteur, you play as Sean Develin, an Irish racecar driver out for revenge. The story starts of with Sean losing a race due to his car being shot, he destroys the other racers car which results in Sean and his friend being kidnapped by the other racer who turns out to be a Nazi, the Nazi kills Seans friend and Sean is out for revenge, without going into any more details, the story is enjoyable and pretty good.
As mention earlier, The Saboteur is a mix of Grand Theft Auto and Assassin's Creed, the main aspects of the game revolve around driving, shooting, stealth and climbing. The shooting mechanics are the best part of The Sabotuer, the way they are designed makes it endless fun to shoot Nazi after Nazi after Nazi. As for the driving, the cars handle mostly well and there are some racing missions to take part in that are a lot of fun. The stealth mechanics can feel half baked at times with some cheep busts but work well for the most part, but even when you to get busted, it's endless fun to shoot Nazis. There is also a climbing element of the game that is similar to Assassin's Creed, you can climb up any building which is a lot of fun, but the climbing isn't fast paced and can feel slow, if Grand Theft Auto IV had more climbing abilities they would probably handle like they do in The Sabotuer, still, issues aside, the climbing mechanics are also endless fun to play around with. Missions mainly follow the same structure where you have to blow up Nazi property, however just because the missions mainly follow the same structure doesn't mean the game becomes repetitive, each base has a different layout and enemies, and to top all that off, each mission can be approached in different ways, just like in Assassin's Creed. To top of all the fun to be had in the missions, there are also side missions to take part in including races and other activities, then there is simple open world fun to be had by just running and climbing around and killing anything that movies.
Another great thing about is it's visual design, Nazi occupied neighborhoods are presented in black and white, with the exception of window lights and nazi property, when you take over the are, colour returns and environments look look great with colour.
Voice acting is great making cutscenes are entertaining to watch. Sound effects are also great.
Unfortunately, the ending is disappointing, but the gameplay is fun, and in a game, that's all that really matters
Overall, The Sabotuer is a game that any fan of open world action games should play, while the stealth elements may feel rough around the edges at times but the game is fun and that's all that matters. The Sabotuer get a superb 9/10.
