Half movie adaption, half comic adaption. All kick ass game.

When I first saw this game advertised I thought it was sick (in a bad way) the idea of torturing people seemed too much for me and wrong. However after reading a Punisher MAX comic and seeing the film the idea of it being too much to Punish the scum of the Marvel world no longer seemed to be a problem. Ladies and Gentlemen you are Frank Castle a man who has lost everything and now runs under the alias of The Punisher killing all that isn't lawful in New York City. This game is very much in the mould of Max Payne but thats not a bad thing as it suits the style of gameplay.Frank can do all the basic action movements shoot, dodge (this is a bit rough), blow people up and mutilate them in true Troma fashion. What makes Punisher stand out from other shooter is the ability to "interrogate" the baddies in a number of different ways (four basic with no requirements and many environmental) to get information from them. Now this all depends on how good you are at keeping enough pressure on your victim that will not kill him but still make him fear for his life, all by a nice balance of analogue stick balance. If you are successful you will get your health back (making it essential for completion of a game) but if you die you will lose style points need for upgrades. There are a few points later on in the game where the odds against you will become incredible and you will get annoyed however it is worth playing through the game to see which Marvel character will have their cameo next (yes a no hold bars of Marvel characters appear including Daredevil, Bullseye, Iron Man and more). The graphics for this game are good but not perfect character models would be perfect but I found their mouths seemed stiff but the environment (which is destructible and can play a part in you killings) is fantastic. As for the sound music is alright but not really noticeable however the voice acting is terrific especially from Thomas Jane who played the Punisher in the film and got voice acting experience as Colton White in Gun. The game can either be very short or last a while depending on how you go about playing it if you just blast away at you're enemies then you will complete it in no time however if you experiment will various killing methods the game has some extra life. The Punisher is a must for any fan of shooter of the third person kind or fans of comic book violence. Remember that what you will be doing is not just justice it is Punishment.
