one on one 3 hot babe fighting game.

User Rating: 5.8 | The Powerpuff Girls: Chemical X-Traction PS
The Powerpuff Girls are a pretty hot license, and it's pretty classic for a games company to get a good license and not make the best game with it. Such is the case with Powerpuff Girls: Chemical X-Traction.

Now, this is by no means a bad game; it's just nothing special. The game is a basic Powerstone clone. If you've played Powerstone, you know what I mean and you can move on. For those of you who haven't, I'll explain the gameplay:

You choose a Powerpuff Girl and control them in a small square arena representing various locations in Townsville. There will be a single villain for you to fight against in each location. The rooms are filled with objects that can be picked up and tossed or simply knocked towards your opponents; there are sometimes even weapons!

Additionally, there are also 3 vials of Chemical X. Both players start with 1 vial, and a 3rd appears somewhere in the level. You can knock Chemical X out of your opponent by throwing things at them. If you get all 3 vials, your character gets to do a powerful attack once before both players get the chance to collect all of the vials again.

There are also basic functions like punching, kicking, blocking, and jumping. There are simple(yet hard to get the hang of) combo attacks as well as the ability to fly in the air and a jump-kick that really cleans up. You can even catch items that your opponent throws and toss them right back!

The gameplay is pretty fun, but the first time you play the game you'll probably think the pace feels a little slow...characters movements and actions are by no means quick. It's something you can get used to, but don't expect fast-paced action when you pick this game up.

Playing through this game consists of fighting many of Townsvilles villains in a specified order. You must finish the game with all of the girls to unlock most of the things in the game; unlockables include characters and arenas for the Versus Mode, where you can square off and battle a friend using a Powerpuff Girl or any of the villains you have earned.

The graphics and sound in this game are very nice. It's easy to recognize both the bodies and voices of your favorite characters, and there's usually a nice little remix of the Powerpuff Girls theme in the background. There aren't any flaws in these areas that will take you out of the game.

My only problem with the game is that I was unable to beat it, not because of it's difficulty(of which there are 3 settings), but simply because I could not figure out how. I would get 100% completion with all 3 Powerpuff Girls, expecting to fight the final villain, but nothing every happened. I know that there is a final character to earn for Versus Mode, and I'm positive it is the final boss because I discovered a secret that lets you see the game's movies(which are of very nice quality), but there's nothing I can do.

I can't get the passwords in this game to work either, and after doing some research I've found that only about 44% of people can get the passwords to work; I don't know what's wrong with the game's design that makes it so tricky, because I've used a lot of password systems before...

Anyway, those are the only problems I've had with the game. If you can get past those, it's a pretty fun game to play with your friends after earning the characters. To top it all off, the price is right; I was able to pick this game up at Target for $5, and I really got more than my money's worth, despite the flaws.

So, if you're cheap, looking for a good time, and you like the Powerpuff Girls(how could you not?) pick this up. You've really got nothing to lose!
