I think you need to be a certain type of person to enjoy this game

The Path can't really be called a "game". It is more like a story that you must unfold. Those expecting in-your-face horror will be disappointed.

The game has great atmosphere, and the design is truly beautiful. Despite what others have said, I think the forest was handled well. Knowing exactly where to go would have ruined part of the experience for me. I found it calming, just wandering around aimlessly, yet at the same time frightening. It really made you feel lost.

Yet some would call the game slow because of this. If you need things fast paced to maintain interest in something, you should probably stay away from The Path.

The story is very vague and symbolic and really is what you make of it. Some aspects, depending how you interpret them, are quite disturbing.

I really would like tell you more, but I don't think I can say much else without ruining the experience for someone who hasn't played it before.

If it sounds like the kind of thing you'd enjoy, you might want to give it a try. It certainly did have an effect on me. It still haunts me sometimes, and when I have tried to play through again, I often find myself unable to continue...

I do suggest that you consider looking at the Tale of Tales forums after completing the game. It is so fascinating to read different opinions on what the story means.
