Enjoyable Cinematic Experience

User Rating: 8 | The Order: 1886 PS4

After reading a few reviews from the media, I was worried because I had pre-ordered the game. I even thought of just trading the game right away. Instead, I went in with an open mind and thought that that was just one persons opinion of the game. I am glad I did so. This is a cinematic story driven game with action sequences. First, the game is gorgeous and the voice acting is excellent. I thought the story was good and it was easy for me to get immersed into it. There is times in the game when I was just walking around, where sometimes I was looking for clues and other times it was because I was walking to a destination. There are moments in the game when I opened a door and there was nothing there but a photo or letter. I thought there could be things in those rooms more relevant to the story, or maybe some weapons or ammunition. The lycans are terrific and horrible looking and I just wish there more sequences with them. Most of the time I was fighting a rebellion with a mix of tough to kill enemies and easy to kill enemies.

I really enjoyed The Order 1886 and didn't think it was boring. This is NOT an action game, so if go into it thinking that you will be disappointed. If you like a good story and appreciate an excellent looking game then you should give it a chance. I think the game is what it wants to be. I am glad that I didn't let the negative reviews hold me back and that I went to it with an open mind. There has been a lot of talk with the length of the game. It took me just over 8 1/2 hours on medium setting.
