Strange title but sorry how many games do i get!!
Half life 1,2,portal,team fortress and hours and hours of gameplay all for under 30 notes!! You wont get a more generous developer !! With outstanding visuals and Ai to die for, engrosing gameplay and scenarios so varied i cant believe if you havent got this game your alive!!
Yes the engines old now and the graphics chips ect have moved on but even today this looks nice!! It really makes you believe your in a train station, or block of flats. Open waste land actually looks barren and as if "life" has just left the area. There's so much to talk about in this game (s) i cant fit it all in. I couldnt believe how the game changes direction so quickly and scenery, and it all looks wonderful, still.
The gameplay stands out in the crowd too, different puzzles to solve, areas to explore and enemies, wow!! The enemies on this really are varied. You can get pheremones (animal sex scent) and throw it on an enemy and release spider like creatures (that were just attacking you) will devour them, where do you see that in any game, simply outstanding. Its a shooter as you ve gathered, a very large one too. Some really interesting weaponary, pick up the grav gun!! This was the "new" physics for the time and it works well here to, you can pretty much pick up anything metal and chuck it, ie radiators, steel containers. Its not all walk round and shoot either, there are puzzles to solve and some clever bosses ! It can be a little tricky at times and the Ai can be too good!! Thats just on the main game, team fortress is an on online counter strike clone with cartoon style animation, different classes of person, with varied real time missions. Portal is a clever puzzle designed to expand your minds!! Basically it uses port holes and you have to work out where your going to land exiting the varying holes, very difficult at times but different enough to be engaging and fun.
Simply put, the orange box incorperates half life 1 and 2, portal, team fortress online, its all a little dated now but was one of the biggest selling games of all time on pc and still carrys the style and looks great. This is so much value for money im surprised tesco havent brought the franchise!!
