Classic fun!

User Rating: 8.5 | The Lost Vikings PC
I used to play this for hours and hours on my old 386 PC, and later on my 486 laptop. Each level gave you a password so you could continue it whenever you wanted. Being lost vikings, like the game says, they got transported into a gate, and this what your objective is in the game - to get to the gate at the end of each level, using each characters abilities to get there, and hopefully eventually getting home.

The main gameplay comes down to thinking out how to use your three vikings to make it through levels... controlling one at a time, and switching by hitting the space bar. Everything is happening in realtime, so you have to be aware of any dangers that may happen while your are moving around your other 2 vikings.

Of course as you go further into the game, the levels become much more complex and difficult requiring you to think out what characters to use where, testing your brain and reflexes. One character can jump and smash stuff with his head, the other can block with his shield and also use it as a platform to jump on, and the last viking can kill stuff with his bow and also use a sword.

I probably would have never even come across this game if it wasn't for a friend giving it to me way back. It's hard to imagine not ever had played this classic, even though I never completely finished all the levels in it, its extremely long to play through and does get very difficult.

There is not really any story here, and the music is good, but is fairly 1993'ish. Maybe this could be classed as a mix of a platform game with a puzzle game. I really never have played a game like this since. Or at least one done this well and is in its own category.

With all the xbox 360 arcade games coming out, a remake of this game with some fresher graphics would be amazing and would totally work better than any other arcade game they've ported.
