What's to complain about?!?

User Rating: 9 | The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-Earth Anthology PC
LOTR: The Battle for Middle-Earth is a RTS that is just a plain ol' blast to play! I've read the reviews on the individual titles and never understood why some people, after giving a short negative review and equally poor grasp of the english language, complain about spending ten dollars as if it were their life savings. The Anthology; however, definitely delivers especially as the asking price was also ten dollars. For that price you'll get no complaining here because this package was worth it and then some. As you progress through the DVD's; however, the campaigns seem to get shorter and shorter. However, there is enough diversity among the DVD's regarding story lines, maps, hero's, units and structures for them to be unique. The only complaint that I might have are the "bugs" that a person will run into from time to time, but as we know, every PC game out there has them. They aren't enough to ruin your gaming experience though they might be better classified as nuisances.
The graphics are not spectacular, but are still done fairly well and good enough to be believable considering you can play it with the graphics option set as high as it can go. Keep in mind that your PC must be at least a medium classification.
The sounds are done fairly well, but you'll run into some hero's who voices are downright irritating like the Goblin King in TBFME II. Not really intimidating when he sounds like a midget that smokes too much.
The game-play is fairly tight, but you'll get the odd character that decides he wants to do his own thing.
The replay value is, for me, about medium based because you can always try different strategies to accomplish your goals. The greatest part is that you can choose between good or evil campaigns.
The one thing that I can't comment on is multi-player as I just have no interest in multi-player for this type of genre. I might play against my nephew one of these days though. :P
Overall LOTR: The Battle for Middle-Earth Anthology remains my favourite RTS and probably will be for many years to come. There are other good points about the Anthology, but I will let you discover those for yourself. I always hang on to the classics and I believe that this is one of them. Especially if you're a fan of the books and/or movies then you can't go wrong having this in your collection. Good job EA...and everybloody else! :D
