A Legendary Classic

User Rating: 9 | The Legend of Zelda NES

It's Dangerous To Go Alone

The Legend of Zelda for the Nintendo Entertainment System is an ambitious beginning of the series. Without a guide or map, players can expect to spend several hours scouring the grid-like overworld in search of dungeons, items, rupees, and various secret areas. Although dated, the audio and visual presentation of this game reflects gaming during the third generation of video game consoles. After completing the first quest-line, players can test their limits and take on the difficult Second Quest. For anyone who wishes to experience the legend that started it all, The Legend of Zelda will surely not disappoint.

My Thoughts

The Legend of Zelda is definitely worth a nine out of ten rating. As an aside, I have not yet completed the infamous Second Quest though I intend to do so after writing this review. I also used a guide before starting this game, though this did not ease any frustrations encountered as the latter half of the dungeons were difficult to complete. Overall, I enjoyed the main quest-line and found the pacing of The Legend of Zelda to be just about right. With the guide, this game took me approximately five to eight hours to finish at 100% completion (all heart pieces, maximum upgrades, and so on).

I also learned, while playing this game, that I really hate any type of Darknut enemy.
