One of my favourite games got better.

User Rating: 10 | The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD WIIU

Since I first played Wind Waker, back on the gamecube, I ranked it as my second favourite Zelda after Majara's Mask. Like Majara's Mask it didn't quite follow popular and ground breaking Ocarina of Time as closely as many fans of the series may have liked. Nintendo tried to push the series forwards and, in dong so, divided people. It wasn't just the gorgeous cell shaded graphics that distinguished this adventure. You set sail on he high seas, jumping over floating barrels and beating up pirates in a seamless overworld.

Like Majara's Mask, Wind Waker had its own share of flaws. Namely Wind Waker was slow. It wasn't just the sailing that took is time, text took much longer to scroll through than in past N64 zelda's and the grappling hook's animation took a few seconds every time you fired it. This was something I remember noting during my first time in the first dungeon, many years back. Something I'll wished they had tweaked.

For some people the issues were to much and they didn't get to fully appreciate the game first time around. Fortunately those people have nothing to complain about now. Wind Waker HD fixes every issue I was ever aware of and a few I never thought about. Text scrolls fast, sailing is fast, grappling hooks are fast and whilst swinging on ropes you don't have to come to a halt in order to change direction. You no longer even get knocked out of your boat when hit by a baddie. Of course the game is now better looking than ever. In full HD with superior lighting and enhanced music. It pretty much perfect, and that's how it feels. The game is now the most polished Zelda games out there, and in its own way arguably better than Majara's Mask.

Everyone should own this game.
