I hate the blowing controls....thats the worst part of the game easily

For all the people complaining why this got a lower score than PHG considering this is a better game: 1) this is not the same reviewer 2) PHG was new with the controls, so that gave that game some extra points 3) a couple years have passed and the games are almost identical in controls, graphics, sound, etc. that alone will not increase score 4) the score difference is just 0.5.. WTF people!

@ sargentboston im a new zelda gamer and started with twilight princess and imho the game is one of the best adventure games this gen but a dialogue in the game would of made it a little better. reading the entire time is kind of annoying

SargentBoston

"There is no dialogue" Um just like EVERY other zelda game EVER.

Because it came out later and therefore a higher standard was set (aimed at the below comment)

The full text of the review says this is the superior of the two zelda games, so how can it get a lower review score? GS should at least try to be internally consistent with their reviews.

@DMLSLAT Different reviewers have different opinions.

I know Gamespot grades games down if they don't change it up a whole ton from their prequel, but it makes figuring out which game is best very confusing. If he straight-up says in the review that Spirit Tracks is better than Phantom Hourglass (I agree), why does Spirit Tracks have the 8.5?

Just bought PHG and i like it. The controls are tight (although i find rolling a pain) and the moment i finish it im getting this ^_^ Yeah its childish due to the apparent easines of the DS games but i LOVE the graphics. Cell Shaded Graphics just appeal to me ^_^

i got this two days ago and i have to agree it is a great game, although has a little too many cutscenes for my liking...

if i had a ds and wasn't trying to get FF13 i would buy this.

Great game, especially in comparison to Phantom Hourglass's horrendous (for a Zelda game) story. My only problem was that it was way too easy.

I got this game, I thought it would be better. The part where you control the phantoms is confusing and it is not fun and is just irritating.

Man im exited, even though the game is a few months old im getting that old school anticipation

Yea the DS Zelda games are childish, but that should be no surprise given it is a handheld. The controls really are what makes these games great fun, MUCH better than I expected given I don't like using the stylus on most games. With the Zeldas the stylus controls work perfectly.

I always liked this version of Link. I really like the childish faces he makes.

they shud really give the recent zelda games higher ratings

JukedSolid

Hmm... it can still be an excellent game, but maybe gamespot thinks it doesn't qualify as the supergame of the series. Sort of like how the BMW M3 is an incredible car but it just isn't a Lamborghini Murcielago *shrugs* I'm having tons of fun with it, as I'm sure I will have just as much fun with the rumored LoZ game that is coming out for the Wii this october :)

This is just another filler for the wait on the larger console game. I still havn't finished phantom hourglass, and have Spirit Tracks un-opened. I have both guides and action replay codes . . . I like these, but they just aren't the same. Idk maybe I'm just growing up. lol

jmalo1
jmalo1

Oh well, whatever. They also underrated twilight princess.

jmalo1
jmalo1

So in the text review, they only said one bad thing about the game. Why does that knock the rating down by 1.5?

i8yumyum
i8yumyum

they are in the place where u have to kill rooms of enemies and then a boss without any healing hearts. you get reward from completing this like a bomb bag (i think) and a heart container

pro_acer
pro_acer

the reviewer is probably playing the dungeon in castle town where you can fight the past bosses over again with your current set of heart and win a heart container as a prize.

supermario97
supermario97

they probably have a special edition of the game

I got this game and let me tell ya, its a great game, I give it 15 out of 10

hj2471
hj2471

also they have the sword of lokomos so tht means they are replayin the game with all the items and they have 11 hearts on the second boss and the sword again so how do u replay the game

hj2471
hj2471

i love this game but why cant u replay the game with all the items in the review the gamespot ppl are doing it

terafumos
terafumos

Aw. I think the "Wind Waker" theme has a lot of charm, and it's for the DS, so were you expecting a worthwhile art style comparable to Twilight Princess? They're working on a new Zelda Wii as we speak, and I doubt it will be a letdown.

Hardydude3
Hardydude3

omg, when are they gonna make a REAL zelda game again? Seriously! STOP RECYCLING THE WINDWAKER THEME!

drskeletor1
drskeletor1

I think many rated it low because they don't like the fact that hes in a train, ya its a little weird, but not to the point where I would lower the score for it. But in the next Zelda game I hope they use the horse rather then a hot air balloon or somthing.

jmalo1
jmalo1

And it looks like you can replay the bosses because he has 11 hearts when he fights the 1st boss

jmalo1
jmalo1

I think he rated it lower because 1: He's not the same person who reviewed Phantom hourglass. 2: The standards have been raised...... but who cares he should rate it higher or the same so he doesn't confuse people
