The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword falls into our laps; take a peek at some of the footage for the upcoming video review.
Oh look at Gamespot, the only ones brave enough to give Zelda the score it really deserves, aren't you hip and cool!? Oh no wait, you're just attention seeking, any old idiot can see that this is an amazing game which is justified in all of the other reviews. I have no time for attention seekers, I am done with Gamespot.
To the reviewer at game acne who gave skyward sword 7.5 and accused the game of having inaccurate controls, was he playing the game with the wiimote and nunchuck strapped to his feet whilst wearing scuba gear in a room full of fibre optic Christmas trees. I have been playing the game for hours, and I can honestly tell you that the motion controls are the best I have ever experienced in a game. Its is my opinion that this is the best zelda game to date. scott4y2hott4y (nintendotag)
Yeah Tom, predicatable formula. Why does Zelda get knocked, when Call of Duty changes nothing every year and uses the same tired engine and it gets praised all to hell. Stop getting paid off by Activision and tell these publishers to screw off. But you like those Activision pay offs a little too much now don't we gamespot. You just proved once again how biased you are when it comes down to who gives you money and who doesn't.
"Skyrim is exactly the same as Oblivion just prettier, bigger, and you can dual-cast now. 9.0."" sorry but you havent played oblivion or skyrim or you wouldnt be be saying something so stupid. gamespot also gave skyrim i low score a 9.0 is among the lowest in its metacritic so stop cry crying
The obvious thing to say is that obviously a review is one person's opinion. Blah, blah, blah...but I think there are limits to that argument. To paraphrase a favorite quote, a person is entitled to their own opinions, but not to their own facts. In specific I'm referencing this reviewer's complaints about the controls, which feel so far off the average that you start to wonder if his console was broken. Last night I was listening to the Giant Bombcast where Patrick Klepek called the combat "fantastic" and said the controls are absolutely the reason to play the game. Anyone who regularly listens to that podcast knows these guys weren't exactly chomping at the bit for Skyward Sword, so it seems unlikely Patrick's comments stem from blind fanboy love. Over and over again, review after review, states that the controls work wonderfully. Now, certainly there is room for debate even about controls. One person might prefer looser controls. Another might want tighter. But this reviewer states that the controls are "broken", which is a step beyond opinion. He walks into the realm of facts, and in the realm of facts it seems nigh unto impossible that out of every reviewer on the internet only his copy of the game had "broken" controls. He forces his readers to either accept that every other review on the internet is lying about the controls or to doubt the credibility of his review. This, it seems to me, is a problematic thing to do as a reviewer.
"Zelda is too much of the same tired formula. 7.5." "MW3 is a great game that innovates just enough. 8.5." "Skyrim is exactly the same as Oblivion just prettier, bigger, and you can dual-cast now. 9.0." Something seems amiss.
I know its quite pointless to argue about gamespot´s review scores, but wont hurt to state once again.... shame on you.
Skyrim I know will be a blast to many tommorow but this game will be even MORE of a blast since its looking to be as good as Ocarina of Time!
FUUUUuuUUUuu. I never wanted a game so bad before in my life. this is gonna be the best game ever, even if it sucks is still is the best game ever. Im passing on skyrim, batman arkham city, Uncharted 3 and rage to get this.
It got a 98 from Metacritic and a 10 in Gameinformer. This is gonna be one epic quest.
this game will be awesome. i want this game. this game equals candidate for game of year. if this game scores lower than an 8.5 then the reviewer was dropped as a child or raised on first person shooters. best zelda yet. i'm happy people stopped b*tching over the art style to try to get attention. ok i'm done
Man i cant wait to sail the skies. will bring back good memories of sailing the sea from Wind Waker =)
@Echose7en86 You know you can get BOTH right? @Baselerd So? I have Battlefield, and im getting Skyrim and this game. Also, Stale? Its your opinion but every zelda game isnt awesome because its zelda, its because every single zelda game innovates by adding a major gimmick that makes them different from other zelda's. Ocarina's Time travel, Majora's Masks, LTTP's Darkworld(Which inspied OOT), Minish Cap's Minish cap, Twilight Princess's Wolf Link, and so on.
I want to have time to play this, but with BF3 and Skyrim coming out I'll probably pass on this one... Sad, I've played every Zelda since OoT. However, they are kinda getting stale despite being awesome.
love zelda always will but skyrim is the game for me this year i will get this early next year :)
@gameking5000 - If it's ready, our review will hit when the embargo lifts this Friday.
@zeldisco2009 Whoa, let's not get ahead of ourselves! But it did make the cover on Game Informer magazine so we will see! I just hope Gamespot knows how to review a zelda title like this one!
Skyward Sword will be so great that the Official PS and Xbox magazine will have Skyward Sword as the cover with the title:All hail Nintendo and the Greatest Game of Alltime. Expect a 10 and game of the year, decade and the generation.
@hotdiddykong Yeah, it may sound silly, but Link's dash -- along with the whole ascend/descend from the skies using a giant bird and a sailcloth -- were what excited me the most.
@HonorOfGod i myself were also kinda worried that this game would suck, because of the nintendo emphasis on the sword gimmick, i thought that they were trying to say that the game would be good because, and only because, of the swordplay, but after seeing some videos about it's other features, i'm thinking this game will be really, really good
i just hate ppl that come saying that graphics are everything... games are made of gameplay not graphics, if you want graphics go watch a movie like avatar... but wait even movies aren't made entirely of graphics, so stop being a graphics whore and enjoy the art man, the art of gameplay, the art of imagination, just shut up anp play the game
It is the first time since the original release of Ocarina of Time in 1998 that I have felt so excited about a new Zelda game. This game is so much like the style of Zelda game I love to play!!! And by the way, those very artistic graphics are just fitting perfectly for a Zelda adventure!
@thingta42 Wow.....Seriously? Dude, HD IS NOT the reason the systems are powerful, its the Hardware, 360/PS3 has better Hardware which makes the technical Graphics better and power which is why Wii isnt getting the Major 3rd Parties.(Use your wii for the special games 360/PS3 Wont get.) Point in case, HD is NOT the reason.
@hotdiddykong It does, Why do you think Wii isn't getting skyrim? when PC, PS3, 360 is? It's because those platforms can run in HD and have the hardware. Trust me if the Wii was as powerful as the 360 it would be getting skyrim. Too bad it isn't though.I did own a wii though, didn't get played much though. Had twilight princess on both GC and Wii for it, and smash bros brawl and galaxy, along with this naruto game.
@hotdiddykong Creativity in graphics is always a breath of fresh air from all the HD games that saturate the market.
@Wolflink001 I like realistic, but not to the point where i want to play nothing but realistic games.
@hotdiddykong Usually the realistic lovers are the ones that either bash Nintendo or sell their Wii's to get Gears of War or Fallout 3. Some even wish for the game be like Skyrim problably.
@Wolflink001 Thats my point, I LOVED how Twilight made it realistic and Darker atmosphere, but there are people who ONLY got attracted to Zelda because of THAT, and then expect everything to be like that when they dont know how Zelda goes. Creative artstyle is what it is, and seriously, Skyward's Swords Graphics and Textures outbeat Twilight but people are rejecting it cause their Realistic lovers without knowing anything.
Anyone excited for links 'Run' in this game? Other Zelda's were uptight about moving around but his Run in this game lets his platform to things faster making it much better. Miyamoto's kicking himself to make this one Zelda no one will forget, and, if it sticks true, it will probably beat Ocarina of Time out of the spotlight.
@HonorOfGod This game is making huge use with Motion plus, MANY sites have claimed how smooth it is, otherwise you would see Gamespot bash it all the time. When Gamestop DOES have a demo for it, you'll see yourself.
@thingta42 You people and your HD, seriously, it REALLY doesnt make THAT much of a difference. its all about GAMEPLAY
@kexul9 Trust me, Nintendo has put a 110% effort in this game! Several review sights have already given this game 9's/10. It's gonna be an epic game so don't doubt it! And, for those of you who sold your Wii's I pity you...
This is Nintendo's last chance, if they screw this up I'll need to find a buyer for my Wii.
