A decent update that doesn't disappoint.

When this game came out alongside the release of the Game Boy Color, we had already seen a Game Boy Zelda game that proved outstanding. So, how to improve it? Why, with a splash of color, of course! This game revamps the original in many ways, from the colorized world to the bonus dungeon to the photo side-quest and more. This game just served as a way to exhibit the GBC, so let's take a look at the game itself. When playing, you're pretty much looking at the same game that came out 5 years before this one, except with the aforementioned enhancements. There's not much to say, other than the fact that the game still held up nicely, and Nintendo did not mess up the update. The gameplay is immersive, putting you in Link's dream world of Koholint Island and setting you on a quest to collect the eight instruments of the Wind Fish in order to escape. The dungeons are still top-notch for an original handheld game, although the bonus dungeon does seem too thematic on colors. Even by the standards of 1998, of course, the graphics and sound are still rather primitive, but they maximized the GBC's potential. If you haven't played this game yet, get yourself on eBay and find a copy. This was my first Zelda game and proves why I still love the series so much.
