Oh Tom. You sound so depressed I actually feel bad for calling you out on being unfriendly during the FarCry 3 stream. And that's saying something. Because you were a massive buzzkill. Maybe you should play some Dark Souls on an expensive PC that most people can't afford. That will have you back in the saddle as an annoying purist/elitist in no time :)
1 Like Tom, did someone from Naughty Dog point a gun at your head and forced you to give this game an 8.0? Your video review sounded a bit... dead. It lacks the passion that is normally present in your video reviews.
For the record, I am not buying or playing this game because I don't support Naughty Dog, ever since they refused to honor the DLC codes that came with my Uncharted 2 GotY purchase. Actually, that's not the reason. The reason was they didn't even bother to reply to my multiple e-mails, at all. They don't care about me as their customer, I won't care about how great their games are. To think that I owned every Crash Bandicoot and Uncharted games.
And I am quite sure that this comment of mine is going to draw a lot of hate and flames, just like your 8.0 score, Tom. I am not sure why there are so many haters on Gamespot, If they didn't think your review was reliable, why come here in the first place? Regardless, I always agree with Gamespot reviews, give and take 1.0 - 1.5 variation.
More brutal violence. Just what gaming needs....
When Naughty Dog announced this game, I had the crazy notion that by "mature story" they meant something other than gore and swearing.
2 Like @AlwaysRunning Video games, like movies, are about escaping from real life, so they almost always contain violence and adult themes. If you don't want violence, go play some flash games on Facebook, or take Grandma to Bingo.

I don't know why people care that this got an 8. I'm pretty sure it's a fantastic game regardless of what any score says. My only gripe is with the lackluster video review (although the written was better). I watched (and read) the review over at IGN and it was much, much more thorough. Don't get mad at the score. It's just a number. This in no way affects my decision to purchase the game.
Why do people piss and moan about 8.0...? it DOESNT SUCK and 8 means its worth buying/playing its not perfect most games arent. Sheesh.
EVERY review has been the same. All monotone, all reading from a script provided by the guys that narrate trailers. Stop trying to strip up every word poetically, and just tell me the bugs and glitches. Tell me how the story is. Tell me how they present the illusion of exploration.
May as well looked up the back of the box.
gamespot is fucking shit, they think they are special, thier rating sukcs look at the bad thing they wrote, it is so lame
4 Like So many people are complaining about another person's opinion. Tom states what makes the game great and where it falls short for him. Some of the flaws may not be as big of an impact to your own experience so tailor his opinion to your own and make the judgement to play or buy this game.
No where did he say this was a bad game or anything to be upset about.
I nearly fell asleep during this review - the reviewer's voice was so monotonous it bored me from the get-go.
Nevertheless, I shall buy this game!

not that I have anything against this score but I like 10 IGN gave it better, 10 just looks sexier
I watched the IGN review they didn't really talk about the flaws in the game much but at least they told us more stuff about the game unlike GS who didn't show much and he sounded so uninterested to.
he's the most boring reviewer on gamespot.. tries way to hard to come up with linguistic words and his tone is too mono
@hampton2003 Indeed...must agree, i was really hoping to watch a more energetic review!! Since the first videos i found this game to be really awesome looking...this review, even with an 8 score...seemed to be talking about a dread failure with a 4score or something similiar. Even stephen hawkings would´ve seem more exciting to listen to.
4 Like I'm sure the game is good. Didn't look that bad. But that review was as terrible as it could have been. The dialogue didn't go past the bullet point format. And the way he described the things I was watching was......well...just terrible. If the reviewer was better the 8.0 score may have been more convincing. Tom, I would say " stick to writing " just don't do it with bullet points.
This game doesn't deserve a 10, calm down. Maybe 9 after some polishing but 8 so far is a fair score.

Played it this morning. Oh my god it's so overrated! It gets boring so quick and the subject matter, zombies? They bore my world, why can't developers have a single original thought? I noticed several glitches in the graphics and AI, the gameplay is generic. I'm not a fanboy, I own both consoles and a pc, I wanted to play this today due to the hype, I just can't believe people went so nuts over this piece of cr*p, no wonder the review is so short.

9 Like I rarely comment on video reviews but this review, I feel, was too brief, hurried and uncompelling. It wasn't as immersive as other reviews and it felt hurriedly done, like just to get it out there so that Gamespot aren't left behind.
And three minutes? Really? This is not like GS at all.
