We explore the abandoned subway in The Last Of Us and discover stealth, shivs, and the shambling infected.
Wait a moment. I know having 2 separate teams on both multiplayer and singleplayer is a good thing but wont it make the multiplayer less, epic and single player-ie? Such as, since the MP guys didn't help the SP guys they wont work as hard on, Low ammo and the awesome Stealth system. Right?
I do have to say that the graphics in this section aren't all that impressive. Maybe I have just been playing too many beautiful PC games. Oh well, looks like a great game regardless.
Yeah, Naughty Dog are simply some of the best developers in the industry.
i'm happy that game difficulty seems to be ramping up, otherwise i feel like it's a waste of money to just cruise through what could alternatively be a tense and challenging game. i also love the idea of managing scarce ammo and having to be resourceful to survive. im excited to start the game day 1 on the hardest difficulty!
@wizardboyus you can make the game as difficult as you want just play a E.G"knife only or no health items" challenge. i used to do that in resident evil and silent hill games.
Im rather dissapointed in the direction this game is going and the more i see from it it looks more ordinary sadly. But like some im mostly dissapointed in the addition of Infected/Zombies. I was hoping for a game in a crumbled desolate world relying heavily on puzzle solving and tactical approach against few surviving scavengers/gangs and crazy people/stalkers on drugs etc. but now theres zombies that make sounds like the woman from the Grudge/Ju-On Movies which is rather dissapointing. I just hope the infected are in small doses and in some shorter sections of the game. One of the things that peaked my interest at the E3 unveil of the game was the dialogue of the enemies when they were "patrolling" areas you had to clear, but now its just creepy moaning and sounds. Hopefully the final product wont have too much of the zombies but i doubt it
This is why I have to own both consoles heh, I am partial to 360 in general but this is one of those must haves that just decided to go exclusive. I actually hate when games do that but at least I will still be able to enjoy it since I own both.
I'm still crossing my fingers for the day nintendo stops making consoles so I can enjoy a zelda game that's not held back by crappy, dated, tech. Haven't played Zelda since Ocarina of time which was amazing and I refuse to buy a crap Wii. Either that or the day nintendo actually produces a true current gen console. I don't say next gen as even the so-called next gen consoles are not next gen. :)
They are not zombies, they are people infected by a fungus.... Theres different stages to the infection, one makes you look and act just like a zombie. The other stage of the infection turns them into creepy-looking creatures.
its really annoying when im typing and the video ends and goes to a different page and i lose everything i typed fml
anyways the game looks cool but its not for me. im colorblind so i hate dark areas with only flashlights its hard as fuck for me to see anything. i also hate stealth games, and i hate limited ammo it makes me feel like why give me a gun at all if i can only use it 3 times and i have to run past everyone. zombies = mass fun destruction, zombies + having to be stealth and not kill them = not fun
I can't freakin' wait to get this! My only question is...should I preorder the standard version...or the collector's version for 20 dollars more...? Hmm...
This game looks good, love the fact you can decide whether to engage or not. Save ammo and quietly sneak past or engage and risk attention from others. Scavaging food/health/ammo is a refreshing change instead of near unlimited ammo and mowing them down. This sort-of reminds me of the first 3 RE games, especially 1 and 2. Good decision making and cautious advancement, not running-in guns blazing. Definately pre-ordering this one!
This game really looked great at E3. Though i had no idea it would involve zombies. Thought it was just survivors, which i would have preferred. Though this does look quite good.
Look's amazing. this game would look amazing if it was on PC. the MODS for this game would be awesome.
I admit there is a flood of zombie media now oversaturating the market, but there are still very few who get it right. The best zombie-related movies, shows, and games are not about the zombies. They're about the interactions of survivors. It's about the behavior change in people when backed into a corner and letting animal instinct to survive take over. It's just post-apocalyptic with the added bonus of having to possibly shoot the reanimated corpse/infected body of your loved ones.
This game looks interesting to me because in the demo we keep watching, the scavengers they kill in the hotel aren't necessarily any different or any worse than they are. Just people trying to survive, but the main character runs in and murders one of them immediately for the safety of himself and the little girl and then takes them out systematically. Who are these guys? Are they assholes for sure or just protecting each other? The developers pointed this out themselves. So the difference is, hopefully that we're adding a dynamic to these kind of games that puts emphasis on our justification for killing others. Is it kill or be killed or could the situation have been approached differently?
Obviously if I'm playing the protagonist and I just sit outside the window there's not going to be an option to be like "Hey, I'm just trying to get through with my daughter (yes I know it's not his daughter, shut up), let's talk and not start shooting, I don't want anything but passage here." So the only option is to get through the house and kill. Hopefully it's not like that through the whole game, hopefully there's options for negotiation because it would make things a lot more interesting. If I was wrong, Telltale's Walking Dead wouldn't be as popular. You can bet the Daryl/Meryl shooter isn't going to be nearly as successful.it feels less sneaky if you can flash your light in their face and they don't react..do all the zombies ignore your flashlight?
@polishfish If you read the preview the fungus grows out of their eyes eventually so that is when they become clickers and like others have said use echolocation at that point.
@polishfish The infected are blind and use echolocation so light matters little to them.
@NervoZa @polishfish So then shouldn't they have a really time finding the protagonist?
Gamespot, why did you put an audio comment over the video ?
It's way better here :
@woodyfr You're right, it was way better without the commentary, and they cut out one of the most suspenseful parts where Joel (sp?) gets ambushed from behind.
I just hope they get the item scarcity right. Many games these days have a messed up in-game economy and the gameplay suffers from it.
Did he have to craft that shiv? So that means a limited supply of even melee weapons... Thanks for bringing some survival back to horror, Naughty Dog.
Capcom, take note.
@M3o5nster Resident Evil 6 can't even be considered "survival" nor "Zombie" game..... They have freaking tactical soldiers now!!! I liked to play the first part of the demo with Leo because at least "That" were zombies, but the rest of the game had more similarities to Socom 4 and other monsters games....
People are saying that they aren't overly impressed from the gameplay. Just what exactly are you guys expecting? Crafting? His arm turning into some bionic weapon? Perks? It's a grown man walking around with a little girl surviving a post apocalyptic world with only a limited amount of gear they can carry around, some of you people just don't think before forming an opinion.
I don't think people realize that ND's been working on this game since 2009...so to say that it's unoriginal because zombie games were big last year and The Last of Us has "zombies" is just unfair.
