The Last of Us

User Rating: 10 | The Last of Us Remastered (PlayStation Hits) PS4
The Last of Us takes a post apocalyptic role in a society ruled by military where man is more dangerous than monster. The game takes on various societies within the apocalypse in order to show every extreme humans are capable of going to in order to survive, essentially delivering one message throughout the game: me or him. Starting off, Joel is shown at the beginning of the apocalypse where he loses his daughter, Sarah, to a soldier who is exterminating possibly infected civilians. This turn of events is what constructs Joel’s stern demeanor and resentment of connection in the next 20 years. 20 years later, Joel is given a mission where he is to smuggle a package- the package being a 14 year old girl. Their journey together proves far from straight forward as they encounter cities infested with infected and hostile civilians along the way. As they continue, Joel finds himself losing grip on his walls that he has set up, only to find himself with a care for his travel companion as they take care of each other on this journey. The detailed imaging in the games extends the emotional roller coaster to the player and feel like any other TV show. With about 25 hours of game play, the game presents many challenges with varying ways to pursue them, essentially giving the player some room to create their own game. I thoroughly enjoyed my time playing this game and look forward to continuing the back story offered in “Left Behind” as well as the sequel “The Last of Us 2”
