alright but not really worth the effort, but its alright if you like that style
the game claims to be newer but from the ingame demo graphics and play style i cant help feel they are a century too late to produce this game.
having played the demo for only 20 minutes i'm kind of saddened as the game has a good idea and concept but its poorly put in to use. the demo starts you out in normandy fighting vikings but the enemys dont move at all. and your army is only able to move 1-2 spots which is extreamly time restraining and boring plus the sluggish movement it makes on the game world makes you think your looking at a 1990's tbs instead of a 2005/06
the resource manangment is alright but it really needed some tweeking as i found my self lacking all forms of resource do to a plague that hit my 1 and only town as well as gold seems to be extreamly hard to get unless you forgo your populations happyness and boost taxes to about 50% which is a great way to lead to a revolt also the armies in the combat mode play very poorly. i found my self fighting peasents with men at arms and bow men only to see bowmen and even men at arms running away from useless peasents as well as troops do not auto attack enemies near them even if they are being attacked which can lead to your army being destroyed in seconds unless you micromanange every single unit on the field. as well as the combat mode lacks all forms of basic military drill there are no arrow head, or bull horn formations only line and box which as anyone whos played any rts/tbs can tell you they are the worst of all formations to use unless fighting peasents.
the game music was alright nothing overly flashy or annoying like some games put out. but it still lacked some to tie it in to the darkages
the game play which really is what sells my self on games was barely there the lack of any true dark age military formations or the sluggish movements you would swear it was a immoble picture of a battle field.
i dont plan to buy this game. but that doesnt mean some one will not find it fun. its not my kind of game.
