Don't you dare think 'Awww... Not another King of Fighters game.' This game is worth playing.
King of Fighters XI has similar components with one of its precedents specifically King of Fighters 2003. The Tag mode isn't bad at all. It's pretty much like a return from the freedom of 3-D and back into the precise timing in 2-D. Leader moves are pretty good as well. The only thing that would be a let down is how cheap Magaki is with his dimension ability, invisibility and constant violet energy orb beatings. However, like all other King of Fighters gameplay, this one is no different and it is quite hard.
Storyline: A
Most people don't get this, but King of Fighters has one the most solid storylines I've ever seen for the fighting game genre. It's a developing story with all of the games with the exceptions of '98 and 2k2. The way that the characters inside the game actually have connections makes it more complex. For example, the links between Kyo, Iori, Chizaru, Leona, Chris, Sherime, Yashiro and Goenitz. Heidern, Rugal and Zero. Whip and Krizalid.
Graphics: B
The graphics were good in this game even though there weren't many changes to the sprites. I mean please, At least give all the other characters a change in style. It actually sucks to see Ralf and Clark a change in style as both of them have very distinguishable moves except for their Argentina Backbreaker.
Music: A+
The music is amazing. Its style is great and sets the right tone in many cases and scenarios. In option mode you can change the music in between the original version to the arranged version. I personally prefer the arranged version.
Features: A+
You can unlock many things in this game. Characters, Gallery, Movies, etc. Where is your sexy Mai Shiranui and the others? Play in challenge mode and find out.
Overall: A
Although King of Fighters XI is much like a combination of 2002 and 2003 gameplay, it's still fun.
My Opinion:
Even though my favorite character [Leona], for the first time is not participating in the King of Fighters tournament from a long string of 10 years, I forgive SNK Neo-Geo for at least giving and explanation to why she didn't show up. SNK Neo-Geo is finally starting to step up I must say. I'm eagerly anticipating the release of King of Fighters XII. [Mostly because Leona is going to participate]
