The Hulk in all its glory.

User Rating: 8.5 | The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction PS2
Probably the best Hulk licensed game to come out. It truly gives you what anyone would expect when playing a Hulk game. A huge opportunity to smash anything and everything. All of this in really big environments and comic book story close enough tie in. Gameplay: As said before, you can go around and live as Hulk and smash everything... jump really high and far, punch, rip / lift / turn into a weapon mostly anything that moves and even things that attack you... You can run up buildings and fight opponents that to some other heroes like Spider Man could be a bit overwhelming to fight, just make Hulk shine cause he can take them on... form mechs to super powered creatures. Really awsome to play like the Hulk... but it goes without saying that with enough damage done to the green man he will eventually die and it will be game over. Last the story is well made and it gives an overall introduction as to what this stream of the Marvel universe is about but also gives a certain origin story which will stand alone in the game (no need to research The Hulk bio or read all the comics to understand) and will most likely call to the attention of non comic book fans. Sound: well the wrecking, crushing, smashing and blowing up of things is pretty standard. This wasn´t a game to go out and get a pretty realistic sounds as they could... all SFX sounds were pretty much standard pre-recorded game sounds already heard before on other games. Also many if not all of the BGM goes basically unnoticed during the whole game.. if someone were to ask me how did the BGM feel, I´d probably answer: their was a BGM? You can sense it a little in the FMV sequences but it almost completely un-perceptible to most unless you focus on wanting to hear the BGM. Which can also point out the need to activate subtitles in the game because some FMV voice over work can at times be un-hearable.

Graphics: The graphics are not out of this world but are decent and well made and suited to not go haywire when too much action gets in the way of the gameplay. So everything in the game, except for the FMVs, manage at the same frame rate and won´t drop / blur / pause during fast action.

Overall the game is very entertaining and delivers with great satisfaction what you want in a game with this sort of playable character... almost completing wrecking and destruction... you get to fight really larger then life enemies because you are capable of doing so because you are larger then life... to the point were you can split a bus in to and make it look easy. Marvel and The Hulk fans will be pleasantly pleased and non comic book an/or Hulk fans will be able to get into the gameplay and the story.
