Finaly lives up to The Hulk's potential. You'll be saying SMASH! within 30 seconds.
Graphics - 8: The textures on the buildings and ground are pretty bland, but there are plenty of buildings on the screen at any given time. Not to mention ample amounts of cars and screaming people. Plus, once you really get going, The Hulk Picks up some good speed. The physics engine is pretty crazy, and things fly really far when you hit them. All of the action is handled very smoothly, with very few frame rate slowdowns. The explosions though, are worth pointing out as a low point, coming off as quite bland. The character and vehicle models are handled well, but nothing really stands out. A good balance to help the game run so smoothly.
Sound - 10: Absolutely great. Some of the best use of Dolby Surround I've heard in a game. You can hear the mayhem around you everywhere, even from what sounds like a couple of blocks away. People running for their lives, explosions, car crashes, and some suprisingly well acted lines from the law enforcement constantly chasing you. All of the crushing, and smashing, and pounding really helps sell the idea of power. The voice acting in the story cut scenes is top notch. The soundtrack is straight from an epic movie, and fits perfectly into the context of the game.
Value - 7: Even with completing all the challenge missions, I tore through this game well within my alotted Blockbuster rental time. As fun as it is, aside from trying for gold on all the challenges there's really not much to keep you coming back. There's some cheats to unlock, but nothing that rally adds to the game in a way that makes playing again fresh. It's unfortunate no multiplayer elements were included, because the experience would be a blast to share with your buddies.
Tilt - 9: All in all, I was pleasantly suprised. The game is a genuine riot to play from the second to pick it up, and really captures the feeling of being The Hulk. The story mode is well done, and an appropriate length, but a lack of other modes makes replay value slim. The game is very well produced. The game's look is a little muddy, but the lower texture allows a smooth frame rate while you're tearing through the city. Make sure to enable Dolby Surround, because this game is a truly fine example of 5.1 sound in gaming. With no multiplayer or extra modes, The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction is a hard game to reccomend buying. As great as it is, it's probably best left as a rental until it's price drops, unless you're a real Hulk fan, in which case you will not be disappointed.
