User Rating: 8 | The House of the Dead: Overkill - Extended Cut PS3
The House of the Dead was an old school on rails shooter by Sega that gained a cult follwing for its terrible voice acting but overall great fun shooter.
Sega brings back what is great about their old shooting franchise and pokes fun at itself and old grindhouse feature films. With House of the Dead Overkill Extended Cut you get more of the same great game with more features such as new levels and a new "Director's Cut" that makes the game harder. This game is loaded with so much over the top action and you'll find yourself laughing harder than you should as it makes fun of horror movies and Sega's classic franchise. In a time when humorous games, and on rail shooters for that matter, seem to be a rare breed, it's nice to see this game take a chance and it seems to be gaining quite a large cult following.
This version for the PS3 uses the Playstation Move and it works amazingly to blast those evil zombies or should I say mutants to shreads. I also love the overall look of the game it looks like you're watching a movie with the cut scenes. Being a huge horror movie freak, I love how Sega decided to just poke so much fun at cheap low budget horror movies. As I'm sure you've heard there is a lot of cussing and adult humor but I never found all of it annoying by any means if anything it really adds to the overall feel of the game. For all its greatness I do only have one complaint and thats the fact that the graphics werent really updated from the Wii version, the backgrounds look a little more crisp but the characters dont look to good especially after playing something like Uncharted. There is so much replay value here and I really see this game as being a nice sit back and enjoy the mindless fun after a bad day at work stress reliever type of game. It'll make you laugh and coming back for more.
