House of the Dead Overkill is a prequel to the 1995 original House of the Dead taking us on Agent G's very first assignment to take down a evil crime lord named Papa Ceasar who has unleashed a mutant apocalypse onto the world. On Agent G's assignment, he meets up with tough guy, playboy cop named Detective Isaac Washington.
The Graphics are great however frame rate issues and odd pop ups here and there kill the hard rushing gameplay. That are not big issues but though the game they can get annoying, but the sound and music is great with 70's rock and pop sounds they make the game cheesy.
HOTD Overkill's gameplay is the same as any other House of the Dead game but in this game you can purchase and upgrade new weapons from the shop such as Pistol, Shotgun, Automatic Shotgun, Machine Gun and etc. This is very clever because in the first and second house of the dead you could only use a pistol, in the third house of the dead you could only use a shotgun and in the 4th house of the dead you could only use a machine gun but in this game you can use them all and upgrade them to be stronger.
To be simple, House of the Dead Overkill is just plain fun to play and is an excellent addition to the series. Let's hope there will be a successful sequel that address the problems this one has.
