just one word: wow

User Rating: 9 | The House of the Dead: Overkill WII
O.K. I am a fan of House of the dead and the grind-house movie. This game is a combination of both. The game is really funny in a dirty and dark way. This is a light gun game that is of course with zombies, but something about it makes it different from the other ones and that is the characters, story, and overall new feel of the games.
Story: The story follows Agent G, the rookie secret agent made to look like Keanu Reeves, and Detective Washington, a playboy detective out for revenge made to look like rapper Common but acts more like Samuel Jackson movie characters, who are out to stop Papa Ceasar, Burt Reynolds. Agent G is doing this to stop Papa from killing everyone with the mutants and Detective Washington is doing it for revenge since Papa killed his father. O.K. that is all with the story, but it parodies a lot of B movie and horror movies like Halloween, and The Birds.
Gameplay: It is a light gun shooter that is really easy since all you have to do is shoot them in the head, but you can also shoot off their legs and arms for more points and achievements. This game is short so those achievements will be what you play for after the story. Every level has a boss and they are always fun even the cutscene right before it. The game would be harder if there was not unlimited continues that respawn you right where you died. The gameplay is fun and like old house of the dead games. There is a sure difference though you buy guns from a store inbetween levels like shotguns, and assault rifles.
Graphics: The wii is not the powerhouse with graphics so the developers put the graphics into the grind-house style which make them great and easy on the eyes. The graphics would look bad if it was not in this style but because of the style the graphics look really nice.
Music: The music is catchy, there are two versions to each song, one without lyrics, and one with lyrics. You unlock the one with lyrics after you beat the game and the music is really funny with the lyrics.
Replay: There are tons of replay value since there are loads of achievements, a new gun to buy, an extended playthrough called directer's cut, and music with lyrics you will be entertained for a long time maybe 20 hours.
Final thoughts: great game worth the 20 dollar price tag a must have for mature wii owners
