Short, But Incredibly Sweet

User Rating: 8.5 | Mickey to Minnie Magical Adventure 2 SNES
The Great Circus Mystery Starring Mickey and Minnie came out in 1994 by Capcom. It is a platformer. Actually, a platform-mini boss-platform-actual boss game. I have beaten it a few times; both alone and with different people. It is a game I like to share because it isn't too difficult and it isn't too long. This is a very family-friendly Disney game.

Mickey and Minnie decide to go on a date to the circus together but when they get there they run into Goofy, who is frantic telling them the circus has been destroyed. Oh no!!! So, they go check it out for themselves and oh dear, the circus is deserted and over run with little evil creatures. They are told by the nice Lonesome Ghosts that Baron Pete and his minions are responsible. Those jerks… So, it is up to Mickey and Minnie to restore the cursed land to its original state.

And the journey begins. Sure, the story line is a little slim, but this game is very entertaining in several ways.

The first thing you'll notice is the graphics. This game is brilliantly colorful and vivid; the detail in the background is wonderful with quite a variety of scenic environments from the six different levels to play though. There are many interesting objects and enemies that interact with Mickey and Minnie. All the characters are very crisp and clean. They stand out very well from the background.

I really like the music as well. And there are many many different songs, which is pretty cool, so that way you aren't hammered with the same song throughout the game. The music fits the scenery, and I really like that. Also, I like the sound effects. They are quite different. Not the typical sounds you'd expect.

The controls are easy to pick up on. The 'L' and 'R' buttons are the only thing that is somewhat out of the ordinary. They're used to cycle through the different outfits in your inventory. These outfits are acquired and kept as you move on through the game. They are a neat aspect. It's sort of like getting new weapons.

What I really appreciate about this game is the fact that you can play 2-player. The levels are no more difficult themselves, it's just that you can either be solo or have a partner (I suggest playing with someone you love). Plus, you share the screen (Which is my favorite). To go along with this, the game-play time is no more than a few hours… Which is great because it's actually quite a satisfying game when you're done, despite the short time span. When it's over, you can sigh happily and go eat some pizza or something.

There is no 'save' option on this game and there aren't any secrets to unlock or special items to collect. I guess the designers didn't want to get that deep. But this doesn't subtract from the game at all. You still, in the future, will want to re-experience the adventure.

I recommend this game to anyone wanting to play through a platformer pretty quickly while still enjoying themselves. So, that would be you!
