Pointless and confusing.

To paraphrase the instructions of the game "You follow the old woman to the bench in front of the chapel, turn her around so she sits down, then when you are ready, leave the graveyard with her."

So I begin the game, the visuals are reasonably nice as are the atmospheric sounds, birds chirping, wind blowing, a car alarm sounds in the distance. Sentiments of loneliness and isolation are vivid.

I arrive at the chapel, 15 metres or so down the pathway, I turn the old lady around and she sits down on the bench, drops her cane and slumps. Ok, she's old. I have no doubt music will start to play and it certainly does. A foreign, folk tune, subtitled in English begins. One can assume it refers, albeit vaguely, directly to the grandma. The melody isn't entirely despondent but the words are melancholy and macabre; something about acid on stone, wiping one name out in place of another, perhaps referring to a reused gravestone, a metaphor for the realisation that in several short generations your already trivial legacy will be carelessly destroyed.

The song ends. I press the keyboard several times in order to make her leave the bench. No response. Maybe there's a delay in order for me to take in the lyrics of the song. Sure. I wait a minute or two. Nothing happens. I wiki the game. "sometimes grandma will die". I alt+tab back to the game.... So she's dead? The ****? At least have her fall over on the park bench or something. And don't give me **** instructions. I'll just assume the game has frozen.

"Meh." I tried to like you The Graveyard but all I could think was "hello poor man's Dear Esther." It was boring and didn't really have anything to say. In terms of storytelling in games or in terms of an actual story. It briefly captured a mood but I never felt a sense of empathy towards her. Maybe you have to be severely depressed. I'm pretty drunk now I honestly thought that would help but nope. Poorly executed idea with some potential that it didn't find. wouldnotplayagain/10
