The abysmal game that helped start legends...
Gameplay/Story: Story? Are you kidding? They don't even have a main character in this game. If your characters die, you go to a store and buy new ones! No you can't give them names are you crazy? This is game boy here we're talking about. Basically, there is this tower that is the world (think mormon views of heaven, where it's made up of different levels) and you must make it to the top of the tower. Why, you might ask? Well, I'll tell you why! There is no purpose whatsoever to this! You never know why you have to go to the top of the tower or even what the tower is. You just know that it's buttloads of fun making it to the top. The gameplay is almost identical to the original Final Fantasy for the NES, but worse. As I said before, your characters die, you buy new ones. This system makes the game a whole lot more impersonal because it's basically telling you, there is no character development here. At least in Final Fantasy, you're characters are given a purpose. These are just like mercs. The game progresses very quickly and you will be done in a couple of hours if you try at all. Each level of the tower, you have to perform some meaningless task and then you get to go to the next level. Do this about 5 times and you win. Congratz.
Graphics: Umm... gameboy graphics. Not much more to say here.
Sounds: Unless you love little beeps and boops that aren't even as good as the NES, then you will hate the music and will keep it muted most of the time.
Value: Really, there isn't any point in getting this game unless you really want to see what spawned the creation of FFVII and VIII. You will be sorely dissapointed when you see the roots. I know, I was. Final Fantasy Legends II and III are actually pretty good games though so just because this game sucks, don't hate the other two.
