In a sentence: TEW is a game that is less fun and less well made than Resident Evil 4 and 5 but is much more violent.
Encounters with monsters is thoroughly scripted. I enjoyed the fights in RE4 and 5 because I felt I could move and use the environment more. I found it supremely annoying that even though you stab a "zombie" in the head, you still have to burn the corpse or they come back to fight you.
The horror is ok, but it isn't really immersive. The story is the usual japanese B-series style full of bad script and poor delivery. (Notice how you and the doctor meet up after surviving a car crash yet he left you inside to burn... yeah thanks doc. Obviously, the characters don't mention this story plot blunder.)
I would compliment the graphics but the blacks bars were very frustrating for me since there is so much night stealth in this game and I would have appreciated having more screen to look around rather than less.
Play it to have some gory fun, but it won't be part of a lot of people's collections.
P.S. Trophies are horrible.
