These are GameSpot's nominees for the Best RPG of 2011.
Liked both skyrim and Witcher for different reasons, but Skyrim is pretty damn shallow sometimes especially with the story and characters. Witcher was smaller but it took me on a hell of a ride. I especially liked how different the game became based on choices.
@Bowmangr I loved The Witcher 2 as well, but Dark Souls takes the cake for me; nothing has immersed or enthralled me as much since Demon's Souls itself, with it being one of my all-time favorites.
Witcher 2 should take this home. No other game pushed the genre forward like TW2 did this year. Unfortunately because most people will vote either pro-hype or pro-platform I guess SKyrim is going to win this one but NOT because it is something extraordinary.
Skyrim is awesome, but why did Bethesda released the game with so many freakin bugs especially the save file one for PS3. WHY BETHESDA WHYYYYYYYYYYYYY ??????
The Witcher 2. Skyrim's great too, and it will probably win, but I prefer a greatly written, focused story to free-roaming, plus I'm a fan since The Witcher.
I know everyone will think that Skyrim should win (and it probably should) but the reality is, every single one of these RPGs are phenomenal. This year was truly a year for RPG enthusiasts, whether it be SRPG, JRPG, or WRPGs.
Skyrim was great. Dark Souls was great. The rest were pretty good (havent tried Tactics) But Xenoblade, hands down, should be the winner. Havent played a game since the old SNES days that grabbed me like that.
@ArcherRO Yeah I really do not care which RPG wins this, Because if I know how this site is going to go they are going to give it Skyrim and if that one doesn't win then Darksouls will definitely win but maybe not, but let's just wait and see. Where is every body voting their was no link for the voting on this site awards or are they not up yet.
as much as i'm having fun & vote for dark souls.. i have the feeling skyrim will win by a landslide
I'm sorry, due to the amount of people that play the games, Skyrim will probably get it.

Skyrim is definitely a gr8 game, and totally deserves to win this.. Anyway i like Xenoblade better.
Skyrim should win this, it is mind boggling how well it plays for the size of game that is.
