Huge jar, only half filled...

Picked this game in recent sale. Truly huge scope, but really bland and uninspired writing was a big letdown. There are maybe 5 interesting locations and even those are not properly used. All questlines are very shallow. I remember enjoying thieves guild or fighters guild questlines in Oblivion. In Skyrim all questlines are written in boring way, as nothing is really happening. Main questline "excels" in that particulary. In oblivion, main quest was shallow, but it was better than the one in Skyrim. You had at least clear sense of progression and accomplishment. Also side quests and guild questlines were better in Oblivion. In Skyrim you have totally boring thieves guild, moderately entertaining mage college, quite interesting but short and underveloped vampires/dawnguard. "Civil war" questlines were really a joke. I sincerely don´t remember even one really good quest. Dragon fights are blast at the beginning, but become just a nuissance when you are leveled up. Also, you fight way too many dragons, so the sense of rarity is lost after quite short time. They really should have thrown few really powerfull dragons after key game moments instead of many really weak ones. Dungeons are just same looking recycled caves and ruins. Side quests are mostly fetch quest of "bring me 10 potions" or "bring me daddy´s lost sword from cave on the other side ot the map" type. BTW game difficulty at defeault level is very easy, I recommend playing at least on hard for experienced players if you want at least some challenge.

On the positive side: World somehow works, lore is rich, crafting system is robust and can be really helpfull (although alchemy is a bit pointless, as potions are plenty) and there is a sense of monumentality and adventure at the beginning, which can really suck you in for quite a few hours.

But after initial wow effect wears off, sense of losing time with shallow game creeps in. And stays. You will keep playing the game only because you have invested much time already and want to finish the damned thing. Bethesda sells millions, but they should really step up! The real quality just isn´t there! I doubt Fallout 4 is different. They shouls really let guys from Obsidian do all the writing... Fair 6.
