where are you people getting that the legion could win in a war against the thalmor? They won like 2 small battles against them. The Thalmor used at the most half of their forces during the great war. Again they only agreed to a stop because it would cost them more resources to win the war. The empire is well aware that if war with the dominion broke out again they'd get destroyed

How hard would it be for Ulfric is propose seceding Skyrim from the Empire once the Dominion have been dealt with.

The Dominion wants this war to carry on. They aren't scared of the Stormcloaks, they're worried about the Empire. Ulric is helping them right now and doesn't even realize it. His leadership is based off of emotional response rather than logic and reason.

Yeah, who could possibly care about civil rights.
People should just shut up and abandon everything their parents, grandparents, and ancestors ever fought for, so that maybe sometime eventually, the Empire will get off their ass and do something.

    It has been thirty years.
    The Empire has done nothing.
Thirty years in the future, the Empire will continue to do nothing.

alright maybe i shouldn't have said small... but all that told the dominion is that to win the war they will have to use more of their forces whereas the legion was already using all of its strength just to repel some of the dominions my point really hasn't changed

Because the Dominion used the majority of their forces in Hammerfell, and lost, to less than a full Legion.
The Dominion had the element of surprise, which is how they won the early battles.
Once the surprise was no longer on their side, the Dominion lost their battles.

The could not hold the most defensible position on Tamriel, the Imperial City itself.
They could not hold the portions of Hammerfell they had taken, against mercenaries and a broken Legion.
The Dominion is not a powerhouse, they are a broken and weakened army.

Where is the evidence that they committed all their forces? What do we know of any forces they still had in the Summerset Islands?

I blame the Psijics. They are most likely the most powerful group on Nirn and just choose to sit by and let things play out.

Ok, so you know how to copy and paste....

Any previous attempt to not sign it before doesn't really matter now, they signed it.

And if Ulfric were in charge, everyone would DEFINITELY be dead. Sure, death in battle for your beliefs may be glorious and honorable... but then the Elves got what they wanted. They don't care about your sense of honor, glory or afterlife. They care that mankind has been decimated.

    OR

He would have made the same decision.

Your opinions are nice and all, but do you have anything to back them up? If not, I'm not going to be able to take you seriously.

And what point were you trying to make by insisting we see that the Empire didn't want to sign it at first?

And how are you presenting anything more than opinion?

The point I'm making is that while Ulfric may be justified in not like the White-Gold (as nobody liked it, at all).. it's implied that if the war had carried on mankind would have lost. The Dominion, particularly the Thalmor, are ok with taking a slow approach to taking over while cutting their losses.

no actually the opposite of that is implied. the elves were just as screwd as the empire

Prove that they tried to incapacitate him, then.

They shot an arrow at him.
Prove that the intended arrow was meant to slay, and not just wound.

I don't need to - you were the one that asserted that they tried to incapacitate him and failed. You're the one who has to back that up.

Yes, a question was asked... in the literal sense.
But that question is not a valid question about the morality of the situation.

The Imperials and their supporters are all hypocrites. They want to condemn Ulfric for the Markarth Incident (or at least use it to impugn his character, if The Bear of Markarth is even accurate) but they justify the the Empire's actions at Helgen; punishments that don't fit the crime and not giving fair trials.

And they conveniently ignore the fact that Ulfric was under orders from the Jarl of Markarth, a staunch Imperial himself.
