Hey there everyone!
I just installed a new Samsung 830 128GB SSD and put steam and skyrim on it, but I believe that my load times are actually longer than they used to be... Any clue as to why?

It is SATA III, but I realized that my BIOS wasn't yet updated all the way (forgot to do that with the new install, so it was on the old factory driver), so Ithink that may fix it. I will see when I return back home from work.

Now im not an expert, but I think there is some kind of "page file" difference from HDD and SDDs. did you install windows on it?
But then again, I thought Windows 7 detects SSDs and changes that automatically... but I'm not sure.

Yes, Windows is on it, and I have already changed the SATA mode to AHCI, and the WEI went up to 7.9 for Hard disk speed/useage.
Is there something I need to do on steam or Skyrim though that makes it know its on an SDD and to speed things up now though? Any other ideas?

There is no noticeable difference for me running Skyrim on an SSD or an HDD. My SSD is smaller(120gig) and shuffling games to it seems to be more hassle than it is worth. My advice is use an SSD to boot your OS as well as system files and run games from your HDD. With serial speeds the way they are, there's really no difference.

Then is there a reason that my game stutters dramatically everytime i cross a certain distance, like its taking a second to load the area? I don't remember this when i played on my HDD, but I'm getting that now that I'm on my SSD. and load times between screens are probably around 1.6 times as long.

But even worse is the stuttering while travelling. It didn't use to be nearly this long on the 7200 rpm HDD, but my SSD is taking longer to do it. Any ideas? Read tests are around 500MB/s and the WEI shows a 7.9, so I'm fairly certain that i have some option checked wrong or something.

I can completely relate, I have the exact same model SSD (256GB) and I get very noticeable pauses and/or stutters while playing as well.
The only difference between the TC and I is that my load times are incredibly less than when I operated on a normal hard drive (500GB 7200RPMS).
I used to think it was a problem with the Save Game clutter or what not, but now I don't know what to do in order to identify why I get these hiccups.

Look at more technical forums on the subject. I guess these problems wont only apply to Skyrim.

That sums you up perfectly: left the jail cell and went to Roosters.
