I roleplay with followers. I look at the mission at hand and I'll usually take Lydia(my wife) on most missions, but If it's a guild I'm in I leave her at home when I do a mission for them. She doesn't need to know I do that stuff.
I keep my Nightingale Armor in the Cellar with Hearthfire. It's my Batcave. I have the armor on the mannequin and the weapons I use on the weapons rack down there.
I keep my Dark Brotherhood armor on the mannequin at the sanctuary along with the Blade of Woes and Mehrune's Razor.
I'll leave my followers outside of Taverns to keep watch while I'm inside doing business. It has definitely kept the game entertaining.

I used to be Commander Shepard, then I took a plothole in the knee.

After suffering through Dawnguard forcing a follower on me for hours i like to run solo.
However i do like a little back up from time to time.
Dont get me wrong i love Serana, but her over use of icebolt is a major turn off.
Oh look a troll - icebolt- Serana dont you think you should use fir - icebolt- nevermind...
Look an ice wraith *charges Fireball* - icebolt- WTF woman!

I hate how she'll immediately resurrect a dead guy. I can have the enemy killed before the dead guy stands up.
One thing I do like is how you can have her hang back without leaving her behind. Waiting and hanging back should both be optional follower commands

I hate having someone with me. I feel like I have to protect them. Always solo for me.

Maybe when I found out all of the expendable followers, I'll use them. Right now, on my new playthrough (lvl 10) I really don't have the recources to keep my followers alive.

Followers don't die unless you kill them...
Not true. The game is designed to have the enemy drop your follower to his knees and then leave him alone, this is true, but he can still be killed. It takes a particular set of circumstances, a weakened follower who just recovered enough to stand being hit by a powerful attack, but its still very possible.

If you're good at anticipating the human mind, it leaves nothing to chance.

Earlier in this character I did not, especially trying to get my sneak skill up. Now I'm so advanced, idk, its fun. Sometimes I leave him at home, but mostly dude goes with me. I agree that Serana was the most annoying follower, she now just lurks around fort DG.

It's worked so far, but we're not out yet.

I do but I don't normally enjoy it lol, two followers and two dead thralls... a micromanagement nightmare yet I can't stop myself.

I generally don't use them but when I have to take one along for quests I don't mind that they're there. One that I use off and on is Cicero because his mad ramblings crack me up but he tends to run out in front of my arrows too often for my tastes

Falmer with their damn poisons are the kiss of death for followers.

I personally don't like using followers. I just summon a pair of dremoras if I ever need help in a fight or if I'm just too lazy to kill every draugr I find in a cave.

I like the idea of adventuring with other people so I like having followers. In my first game, though, I didn't have any because I felt they got in the way. I still have furstrations with followers sometimes, but characters like Argis, Gregor, and Valdimar are so sexy I don't mind hahaha.
The only followers I don't like are dogs. I was trying to decorate my house with a dog and he would like constantly push me around and make me drop my items and stuff. And then on adventures he'd do the same things. Never again will I have a dog. I can barely stomach the Barbus quest anymore.

For real! I got so damn tired of that phrase!
And she's always bumping into me in the midst of my conversations with other people. Even knocked me off a freakin' ledge once. On the one hand I really like that she'll wander around and mess with stuff while you're not busy (smithing, sitting at a table and eating, using my alchemy station, etc.), but on the other hand it drives me nuts when she's always bumping into me or walking back and forth between me and the other NPC with whom I'm conversing.
