Loremasters: Are Bosmer and Khajiit related?

I read somewhere that bosmer and khajiit are related, something to do with Lunar Lattices and Azura so are they or did I read bs?

I'm sure I've seen someone saying that Khajiit could possibly be related to mer.. Somehow

they are their own species. in fact theres a bunch of subspecies of khajiits.
are they related to mer in the terms that they share a couple gods and beliefs and such, sure. but they arent biologically related to them.

If you review their creation myth, as well as lore, then they may have been elves at one point: Khajiit creation myth states that Azura played a very direct role in their making, and Azura has been known to change entire races for at best minimal reasons. Lastly, the overarching name for all beast races is "betmer", meaning beast folk.
THIS WAS ALL CONJECTURE.
Unfortunately, "betmer" is a literal translation, it applies to the Imga, Argonians, Khajiit, Lilmothiit, and Sload, so using it to imply relation to the Ehlnofey, or descendant races, is logical fallacy. It is assumed the Khajiit, like all beast races, were the aboriginal inhabitants of Tamriel, but this cannot be proven as there are no known written records of any beast race habitation prior to the end of the Second Era.

I read an interesting theory involving the Void Nights and their relation. The theory goes that the Thalmor instigated the Void Nights in order to sever the Khajiit's connection to the moons via the Lunar Lattice. Basically, the idea was to revert the Khajiit to their original merish forms.
Falls perfectly in line with the Thalmor's goal of purifying Tamriel in order to bring about a new Merethic.

As others have said, it involves Azura. She bound them to the Lunar Lattice, which gave rise to their various forms. What's interesting is that certain breeds of Khajiit resemble elves, but with tails. In fact, I think one of the new texts added by Skyrim has the Nords describing the Khajiit as beast-men who fight with the savagery of elves.
I'll try to find the link. Keep in mind that it is just a theory.
